Hi

I downloaded the GBPVR two months ago. Until now I’m very impressed how much you can get as freeware. Basically I got interested in GBPVR because of the MVP server facility. However, for the time being I’m not using the MVP and want make GBPVR reliable enough to be used by the rest of the family.

Right now I’m struggling with two problems that have to be solved:

1 – The DVD bottom has diapered.
I switched it of under plug-ins in the GBPVR configuration. After a short time I turned on again, but it never came back in the main menu. I have also checked the box “show DVD bottom” in the DVD/remote menu.

2 – DivX movies do not work.
It simply will not play the DivX movies. It looks like it will start, but the screen remains black.
I have, as recommended in this forum, uninstalled the divx codex and installed the FFD show codex. I did not help.

I hope someone can help me.

Thanks in advance.
Best regards

hmm.. do you use hardware decoding (tv out of pvr-350)?

cause the dvd button is only visible when using software decoding, case the hardware decoder of the pvr-350 is not able to play dvd content. in this case you could try the xdvd plugin. if i'm not mistaken, you can play dvds with this plugin using the tv out of the 350.

the same aplies to divx-files. the tv out of the 350 is not able to play anything other than mpeg2 files.

Hi again

Thanks a lot for the very fast reply. I will try the software encoder and let you know about the result.

I switched on the software decoding and bingo - the DVD bottom is back and works like it should. Problem one is solved - thanks again.

However, problem two was not solved. I still cannot play DivX movies.
It worked earlier - even on my MVP. By the way I think the problem started after I installed the PVR350 two weeks ago.

Regarding TV out. If I use the s-video on my video card (Navida GeForce FX5200) the picture on the TV is not good. It's like the harddisk is making noice (Maxtor SATA 300GB).

Is it possible to remove the GBPVE titlebar and the white frame. It was hidden when I used TV out on the PVR350.
Best regards

Can you play them in Windows Media Player?

Just remove the check from the 'run in window mode' checkbox in the config app.

Hi again

Your advise 'run in window mode' checkbox worked.

I tried to play a DivX movie with Mediaplayer and PowerDVD. It did not work, but i did until not wery long ago. The DivX Player still works without problems.
Do you think a codec is missing?

Just some further information:

I tried to uninstall FFD Show and reinstall the DivX codec.
It did not change anything.

All my divx movies are stored with the . avi extention.

I have some movies made with my digital camera, which har the .avi extention too. They can be played by GBPVR without any problems.

Yeah, something screwy with the divx decoder on your machine. If you get it working in Windows Media Player, it should also work in GB-PVR.
