I am probably missing something. Part of what i want to do is simply use my capture/TV Tuner to watch TV on my PC. The only way I have found to change the channel is with a pgUP/pgDown. Not good. Is there a way to enter a channel number and go directly to that channel.

I am sending my cable directly into my ATI Theater 550 pro. No box or external tuner.

You should just be able to type a channel number to change channels. Try pressing enter after the number if its not changing automatically.

You can also change channels pressing up/down, or by bringup the TV Guide or mini-guide and selecting a new channel.

I have tried typing in numbers, from both the key pad and from above the letters, then hitting enter. Nothing. As mentioned in my post, I am aware of the pgUP/pgDOWN option, but that bites when you are on ch 63 and want to switch to ch 5. It takes about a minute. Seriously.

I had been using WinDVR with an ATI All In Wonder (9600) under windows 2000 for about four years without a problem, including recording to disc. I upgraded my video card to a Geforce 6800 and bought an ATI theater 550 pro, and I have had nothing but headaches since. Upgraded to XP, WinDVR won't work, company that produces the theater 550 pro says, "too bad, the card works, not our problem" (overlay not available) and all the PVR programs I hace tried want to record always. At least with GBPVR, I can simply watch TV. That is all I really want to do, and occasionally record something.

GBPVR seems to be a decent program, better than most of the commerial ones out there. Maybe there is something I am missing. I am going to assume that changing channels would come under the catagory of basic functions. Any known issues?

I have capture sources pointed at the theater 550card and it is setup for channel changing as "No Channel Changer Required".

I can assure you it works for most people. There must be something about how you've got things configured.

If you open the config app and go to the 'channels' tab, do the channels have the numbers next to them that you'd expect to see? These are the numbers its expecting.

If you're type 6-3 to go to channel 63, but there is no channel 63 listed on this channels tab, then it'll do nothing - much like what you describe is happening.

Of course its a feature GB-PVR has. There are no known issues with this. Check the channels tab as I described above.

Fantastic.

That was it. They were offset by 98. Go figure. All is well, and I thank you for the wonderful program and the help in getting it going.
