What I would love is to be able to control the system volume using the remote control regardless of where I am in GBPVR.

I wondered what the Mute and Full buttons are used for on the remote as these seems reasonable buttons to use (eithe 'Mute' for vol 'Down' and 'Full' for vol up or use 'Mute' to mute, 'Nameless button' for vol down and Full button for vol up). Could this be done.

I dont use those buttons, so I'm thinking of writing a program that will read the remote, use the Mute and Full buttons to control the volume and pass the others as key events to GBPVR.

But I wont if Sub is willing to build this into the main app.

What do people think?

vol + - or mute doesnt appear to work for me at all, anywhere, thought sub hadnt implemented this. (like in live tv, viewing a recording) not sure about using nameless button/full for vol+/- in menus thou, maybe press nameless button to bring up more controls, brightness, contrast, screen position/size (oh yeah thats a good one), and volume control, then navigate that like a menu.

of course all these things can wait for more important things like rewind/fastforward live tv, watch a recording in progress all the way without it stopping at the point you began watching, quicker channel changing, etc.

but yes it would be a good idea to be able to change the volume, i like my popup menu idea, i think its actually really good. just like the menus on a pc monitor. or maybe menu for the popup menu, and just use back/exit to get back to the previous menu.

Hi, what I did (and it works now globally) is to use the small volume controller you also get when clicking on the speaker icon in the tray.
It can be opened with sndvol32.exe /tray and the window is called Volume Control. With some irremote.ini tweaking you can make something you like.

Problem: you don't see it on the pvr350 tv-out...

Thats an interesting Idea that I hadnt thought of, thanks Mabo. I'll have a play with that.

Only problem is that I stopped up using IRRemote a long while ago because it needs GBPVR to be the frontmost window and I'll bring back that issue. hmm

Here is the relevant section of my irremote.ini:

<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">
In the [Applications] section add:

Volume Control=

In the [Default] section add:
;volumecontrol
FUNC={run(C:\WINDOWS\system32\sndvol32.exe /tray)}

At the end of the file add:
[Volume Control]
CHNLUP={app(0xa0000)}
CHNLDOWN={app(0x90000)}
VOLUP={app(0xa0000)}
VOLDOWN={app(0x90000)}
FUNC={close(sndvol32.exe)}
[/QUOTE]

Save irremote.ini and restart ir.exe

This works great for me. Only not for the volume on the tv-out of the pvr350. But that's not that bad.

I have this problem (and I even wanted an EVEN more generic volume control), since I have only SPDIF audio and most &quot;common&quot; volume control software (within PVR or HTPC programs) do not affect it!

So Girder gave the answer. Now I have a SINGLE volume control that works in ALL programs also with Mute (which was a problem since my drivers don't support mute for SPDIF!Wink that remembers the volume before the Mute. If you want I can send over the GML.

Much cleaner solution and you don't depend on whatever solution specific programs give (obviously I don't use anything else to change the volume).
