Hi,

Has there been any thoughts/ideas regarding the possibility to have guests logging in to the EWA. What I am looking for is a way to give freinds and family limited access to my GBPVR, e.g., letting them view and stream music but not being able to schedule recordings, etc.

This would be a very nice feature.

I second this request !!

I have been wanting to give a friend of mine (a student) EWA access but I don't want to give him the ability to schedule recordings or deletion rights for fear he might suck up HD space or clear something I really wanted to keep etc.

If I could also add to this feature request the ability to restrict the number of connected users?

Thnx

I just installed the enhanced web admin about an hour ago and this was my first thought, wondering if this would be possible.

Allowing friends and family access w/o letting them change things would be high on my priority list. I can understand how adding the security into the web admin would be a pain though. You'd almost have to rewrite the entire thing to add in user security levels.

Anyway, just letting you know that there are still those of us out there who are still interested in this functionality.

I have been wondering about this as well. My "guest" is family and I am not worried about her changing things. I would like her to be able to load BPVR onto her computer and then use the EWA to play the recorded shows. I think it can be done already (provided I don't mind her having full rights) even though she lives in a different city from me. I just haven't figured out the right steps to do it.

She does not have to have GBPVR installed to play stuff from EVA, just VLC or WMP installed. But if she would like to download shows she can of course import them into GBPVR and use them.

I actually asked for the ability to download a database dump file (i.e. an export of recordings) via EWA t oget all info but UJB did not think it worth wile. And that is no problem for me, as I understand it all info is already in the mpeg-file to be imported into another GBPVR and then this feature would be of no use.

Give the attached beta a try and let me know what you think.

I added an area on the config tab to add a Guest Id and Password. If these are entered at the login screen the user will be logged in but will not see the delete, cancel or record options. They will also not see the Admin tab.

Does this work with previous versions of GBPVR or just the latest?

It is an upgrade....just like any other release.....It includes all changes up through build 64 and requires GBPVR 99.12 or higher to work.
