Got myself into some bad trouble for the first time in a long time with GBPVR ('luckily' with my own setup and not the ones I've done for friends and family)

Set off to upgrade one late night, but speeded too fast through the dialogs to catch that it didn't point at my normal directory c:\Programmer\gbpvr\ but rather to the c:\Program files\... default. It installed most of the way before I realised it and cancelled out. Alas - it was too late, and the damage was done.

Since then I have not been able to roll back or get a correct installation up and running again (except from a vanilla installation).

All attempts to roll back or reinstall on top of my old install results in
a) Channels lost from the recording devices, and impossible to reimport from EPG source
b) Every attempt to reload and save EPG info results in a database lock error as do other config change attempts (see attached screendump)

If it was just an issue of reconfiguring the channels again and then go from there, I would have been done days ago (I actually currently run with a clean install to record whatever is on these days)

But with two+ years worth of recordings well past 1TB I would REALLY like my database information on the existing recordings (usually accessed through VideoArchive collected from 6 disks C: thru H: ) and prefeably my reocurring recording as well.

Any attempt to resore the database so far has failed. Any hints/help would be greatly appreciated. either to get an install correct on top of the old install or import the DB info into a new installation.

Also attached logfiles form one of my failed attempts.

I have a copy of the gbpvr directory from before I started the install, but reinstating it doesn't do the trick.

Can you set <LoggingLevel>Debug</LoggingLevel> in config.xml, then start the config app, then zip and attach the config.exe.log and I'll take a look.

Thank you Smile

I've attached all logfiles and config.xml, so you should have all you need. One thing - i only changed to debug in the UI (didn't read your post good enough this sunday morning to do it in config.xml), so if you need something from the first initialisation please let me know and I will redo the process.

Otherwise, i went thru the steps that leads to database lock problems, namely go into the capture source - see that the channels had gone - try to reread the xmltv-file, which doesn't populate the recording source. Any subsequent trials - even after restarting - results in the database file lock situation.

Looking forward to you diagnosis, and hopefully a good solution Big Grin Please let me know if you need me to do anything more.

TIA

Try the attached databased.

Databases arent portable between releases, so when you copied this one from a previous release you ended up with a broken database. I've updated this one to include the columns that were added later.

Thank you VERY much !!! Huge sigh of relief still echoing in the room Smile

Must have been the failed initial upgrade that stopped the DB-change from happening even after trying to reinstall.

All looks good Big Grin except that I'm now not able to update the EPG :confused: . It still has the leftovers from saturday (yesterday), which is consistent with this incident starting last sunday before the sunday EPG update, and my EPG being 7 days.

I've attached logs & DB again - maybe you can help me getting the EPG update back on track as well...

TIA

Your logs seem to be full of errors about parsing the date time strings in your XMLTV file, so it sounds like they're using some funny format. Can you zip and attach one of your XMLTV files?

XMLTV file attached...

They usually work flawlessly. They also work on a vanilla installation. Even set an upgraded GBPVR for my former IT Director this week with same format and no problems. That was btw an upgrade that worked without a hitch.

I dont know if its the main cause of your problem, but that xmltv file does contain a large number of listings that dont specify a stop time:

Code:
<programme start="20061204045000 +0100" [B]stop=""[/B] channel="ard.dr.dk">
    <title lang="dk">Verden rundt</title>
    <desc lang="dk">Reportager fra udenrigskorrespondenterne.Originaltitel: Weltspiegel</desc>
    <credits />
  </programme>

I don't think so. It went in beautifully on my clean installation here (exact same file). Also worked on another install/upgrade I did this week. Never had this problem before either, even with the 'endless' last programme of the night being a regular feature of the EPG. GBPVR simply pads it to the next morning where a new programme starts...

Other than the errors relating to those listings missing the stop time (which you may find a also present on the clean install), there isnt any other logs messages to indicate there was a problem importing the listings.

It might possibly be a loading problem rather than a saving problem though. Can you try setting your 'autostart MVP servers' to zero (so we get PC logs), then start GB-PVR and view the TV Guide, then zip and attach the gbpvr.exe.log?
