I'm using a STB TV PCI card (Got it from a friend who passed away, it was lying around his house), and hooked it up. It runs GREAT using the Bt8xx drivers and the WDM Plugin. Can LiveTV, using S-Video, Composite, Antenna, Cable, and standard Coaxial. Unfortunately, it can't seem to record. I'm trying to work on this, but it doesn't seem to try. It gets added to the list, but is marked as "failed" almost instantly. I may be missing files, not sure.

That's pretty much how it goes with the WDM plug-in... The developer (normanr) doesn't come around any more, so we have all pretty much given up on it. I use it with a TV Wonder PRO on my main pc to watch TV.

I, and the most of the other people that try it, have completely given up on it. I went out and bought a PVR150MCE, and haven't looked back. In fact... I haven't even had any problems since its installation last May.

That being said... a few have gotten the plug-in to work lately, so best of luck. Smile

I believe the source code is still available, but it's nothing I can tackle.
Software cards seem to work better in a Linux environment anyways.
At least that is my experiance.

get the real driver...i have same card and it works great..Smile
livetv preview, timeshift, recording, everything.. Big Grin
but use the real pinnacle drivers...on their web site look for the Rave card drivers..d/l install and use yuy2 for recording, and rgb24 for live preview and it'll work great..
i even modded the ati encoder to have a different bitrate so it's amazing on sports, small files and no blockies..Smile
but it does great full res recording at about 15% cpu on my machine...[can even use comskip with livetv switch!]

so that's one card i know works...and others should too if they have properly written drivers...[and not too many crossbars]
[the bt8x8 generic driver isn't quite properly done...still things missing/needed by most cards/software]

i also have a graphedit player that could be made to work with external recorder..Smile [as long as you can make a graph that plays]
[search for playgrf] harder to setup tho...

the real drivers should do fine for you tho..

Does it have the same tuner as the STB TV PCI?

oh....shoot...i'm thinking of my pinnacle pctv..sorry about that...
Smile
i also have the stb card and i did get it working once...
but yea, something wrong with the colorspaces or sound that made it not look so hot quality wise...only preview looked good for me but yea it worked with the generic driver as well...

which card did you select in the bt8x8 driver setup?
that's usually why it doesn't work all the way...

but also check the colorspaces, as even tho it does both yuy2 and rgb24 color, the rgb24 wont work for recording, and the yuy2 wont work for preview...

also the recording colorspace depends on the encoder you're using, with ATI drivers, mine would only record in yuy2 and i think uyvy or yv12.
and preview is going to the video renderer so needs to be rgb24, etc..
