Hi,

Does anyone know why some .mpg program recordings that play back without any problems in VLC do not seem to have any audio whilst being played back via the GB-PVR interface/application?.

All of the programs that seem to have no audio have been recorded from Five US (Pimp my ride) however, both audio and video playback without any problems in VLC.

Confusing Sad.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Best Regards.

I'd guess from your description that its something to do with the audio decoder you're using.

Hi Sub, Any ideas why Five US programs only seem to be affected by no audio whilst played back in GB-PVR?.

No, nothing springs to mind, but if it can play the audio in another player then its definitely record ok, meaning a playback problem.

Hi,

Regarding audio not playing back on Freeview Channel 5 US does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?. Initially I'd thought that this was an intermittent problem however there's no audio on any of the programs recorded from Freeview Channel 5 US. All other channels that have been recorded from seem to be working alright.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thats the one showing endless Pimp my Ride, right? If so, it works here- so maybe something screwy with your local transmitter or your PC.....

edit: doh, just read your first post - seems that channel really does only have one use Big Grin

Hi Sub, Good question. No, I've not tried another audio decoder. Tried different muxes but realise that this doesn't affect audio playback. Can you recommend any particular audio decoder at all please?.

Can't understand why Freeview Channel 5 US program recordings play-back without any problems in VLC  . By doing this the recordings have recorded properly as you'd mentioned previously but it's a shame that the audio doesn't work in GB-PVR as I'd like to play-back via MVP.

Shall try another audio decoder though.

Thank you.

Its probably just a limitation of whatever audio decoder you're using. It probably doesnt like the bitrate, or AC3 audio or something similar. What audio decoder are you using.

You didnt mention the MVP earlier. You're probably trying to play a channel that has AC3 audio. The MVP will not play recordings with AC3 audio.

Hi Sub, Am trying to play-back via PC however there's no audio on MVP either Sad.
What's so confusing is that I'm almost certain that I've had Freeview Channel 5 US program recordings working alright since starting this project to built a PC PVR based on GB-PVR. Just so that I'm changing the right audio decoder this is via Config>Playback>Software MPEG-2 Playback>Audio Decoder right?. Choices that I've got in my GB-PVR installation are.. System Default, MPEG Audio Decoder, Intervideo Audio Decoder and ffdshow Audio Decoder.

- Apologies. Audio is working via MVP but not via PC Sad. (Not such a cause for concern though as ultimately I'd like to leave my PC running GB-PVR in a seperate room to my TV and control everything associated with GB-PVR via my Hauppauge MVP).

Thank you.
