Recently installed GBPVR on a new motherboard (Asus E35M1-M Pro) with Windows 7. Everyhting seems to be working fine so far, except for one problem...

During playback of a recorded show, playback will suddenly pause. After about 30 seconds it resumes by itself. While PVRX2 is in this unexpected pause it is unresponsive.

There don't seem to be any errors in the logs. Only thing I can see which could be of interest is the following:

The pauses seem to happen at the same time as the OnPaint().

Any ideas of what may be causing these unsolicited pauses?

Hasso

In dont know - I possibly guess it may be caused by the device stopping delivering data?

By device, I assume you mean the hard drive? Yes, that is on my suspicion list. It's an internal SATA Seagate Barracuda Green ST2000DL003 2TB drive. I'd expect that it should be able to handle playback of one file without these intermittent pauses. I'll move the file to one of the other "non-green" drives and see if it happens there as well.

I'd be happy to receive and pointers on what could be causing the hard drive to do this.
Regards,
Hasso

By device I meant capture device. ie, if it happened during playback of recordings as well as live tv, then I guess it happen in the same spot each time, and those bits of the file are missing.

Interestingly it happens on a different spot each time I playback the file, and when it resumes from the pause/freeze it continues from the point of the pause (i.e it doesn't skip ahead). Playback pauses/freezes, PVRX2 becomes 'not responding', after 30 seconds or so, playback resumes from the point it left off, PVRX2 is happy until the next pause.

Hasso

There has been some discussion here about Samsung 2TB green drives - since yours is a Seagate, I'm not sure if it will help...

I have a similar problem, but using my NMT's, when playing back from my WD Green 1TB drive.

Thanks for the responses. Unfortunately in the thread it looks like the issue was never really solved :-(

I'd be interested in seeing your logs (in the NMT forum). There are several places in the playback code were I added traps to prevent something like a 5 second pause so 30 seconds should be really odd.

Not in any sensible way no, but it's worth trying the following: have something recording in the background while you watch whatever it is that keeps pausing. If it works, then you'll know it's related to the HDD going to sleep. If so, then the program I wrote because of the problems I was having in that thread might help you too.
