Anyone else have this problem? Some wma files won't transcode with ffmpeg. For example, this command:
ffmpeg -y -i "in.wma" -ab 224 "out.mp3"
results in
in.wma: Error while opening file
This is especially annoying because it causes my MVP to reboot.

I did read a post that stated that ffmpeg could not handle uncompressed wma files, but these are definitely compressed.

Are there any other options for transcoding wma files?

Thanks,
Lee

it may just be the compression used....as wma files can have any one of several codec's compression schemes...it's probably that it can't handle the specific codec used...same with wmv files...and real media...
see if you can't determine the codec and see if ffmpeg can handle it...

The codec is WMA 9.1, 160 kbps, 44kHz, 1-pass CBR, pretty standard stuff.

I'll give the newer VLC a try, thanks for the tip.
