I quite often get a recording marked as failed when it actually hasn't failed (ie the mpg file is there, and if you look at the status while it is recording it says 'recording', and the logs also show the recording as having taken place.

However if I look at the display when the recording is supposed to be recording, the gbpvr display doesn't show the program as recording (when it actually is), and the program sits in the pending list as being about to record. If you select it from the pending list and hit 'update' gbpvr stops the 'ghost' recording and starts a new one

It seems to be some issue with the database, but I can't see what it is. It is very intermittent too - sometimes it fails and sometimes not and I cannot see any common factor to the occasions when it fails

Can someone give me a clue as to where to look for a solution

Next time it happens, zip and attach the logs and let me know what the recording was, and the time it occurred.

You dont record to a network drive, external USB drive, or other removable volume?

Here is yesterdays occurrence. At 21:30 It was scheduled to record Torchwood, and did so. However at 21.45 I saw that it was not showing as recording, and hit update and you can see from the logs that it closed the first file and started another. After this it behaved normally The first file is there on the hard drive but gb-pvr doesn't seem to know about it. I expect it would have shown up as 'failed' if I hadn't hit update. Later on (at 01:00 today) it recorded another program normally
I am recording to an internal drive. Hope these are the right logs. Could not see anything at around 21.30 in the other ones

Sub: I am still struggling with this issue. Quite frequently a scheduled recording is marked as failed when it is actually there. This seems to be a database problem - I am reduced to importing it into the database with MPEGImport, which is not very elegant

I am running version 99.012 on a XP media edition with Rollup 2 installed

You asked for the logs next time it happened, and these are attached. the program was Doctor Who, it started at 18.45 today 28/4 and finished at 19.30. I have the machine set to no start padding and five minutes after padding so it should have stopped at 19.35. One of the logs says this is what happened. the other seems to not see the recording at all, and also seems to be recording on a 12 hour rather than a 24 hour clock

I had this problem when I was running renamerecording in my postprocessing.bat.

switching to addepisode fixed this tho it appears others are having problems with recordings disappearing (rather than failed) when using addepisode.

There is no sign of any errors in the logs around the Dr Who recording. It could be related to what gEd says above - do you have a PostProcessing.bat or ParallelProcessing.bat file? If so, whats in them?

I don't have either of these. Certainly haven't created them. Did download a post processing.bat with comskip but have never extracted it from the zip file I downloaded (as I do comskip manually)
GBPVR did it again today. with a program called Superstorm at 2100 (logs attached). When I looked at status at about 22.25 it still had Superstorm as pending, even though its time had passed. I hit 'update' and it disappeared from pending, and appeared in 'Ready' as 'failed'.
The programe that started immediately after (Science of Superstorms) recorded OK though

Can you check the exact file name one disk is "D:\Recorded TV\Superstorm\Superstorm_20070429_21002200.mpg". Carefully check the directory names etc.

Sub: I cut and pasted the file name below. It looks exactly the same as in your message - "D:\Recorded TV\Superstorm\Superstorm_20070429_21002200.mpg". It is a perfectly good file, plays back fine, except it is marked as 'failed' in the database, so gb-pvr won't touch it unless I 'import' it
