Just had a look through a good months worth of posts, but couldn't see this mentioned, apologies if it's been done before.

When recording a scheduled programme, it's possible to begin watching it before the recording's finished. However, it only appears to only play back what was recorded up to the point when play back was started (sorry if that's not particularly clear). This means that once the end of the file is reached, you have to restart play back and fast-forward to the point where you left off.

Is this a technical limitation, or is it behaviour that could be changed in a future release?

Hey Brun

the information on this is in the forums somewhere, but Sub has explained the are two ways of reading a mpeg. One way gives you file lenght, FFW/RWD control, the other way allows you to read a file that is being written to (and you loose the other stuff).

I think this is all based around Microsofts Directshow filter that imposes these things,

Re. timeshifting with a live MPEG2 stream I think there may be a way to do it. Check this out http://www.codeproject.com/audio/SBECapture.asp.

This just might be something that could be integrated into GB-PVR. If it can be it would be a great feature [Image: biggrin.gif]

I'm aware of this approach, but you do realise that you dont end up with an MPEG2 file? This creates a .DVR-MS file (SBE file).
