I noticed some of my recordings were recording the wrong channel the other day. I did a survey of my setup, and found that indeed I might have entered some of the channel mappings wrong. But, digging a little deeper, I may have found a genuine issue, and I hope someone will tell me that my fears are unfounded.

I have 3 tuners in my DVR, one is the PVR150MCE and the other is the ATI Theater 650 Pro, which has one input for SD signals, and another for digital.

I have 3 inputs going here. My cable is a little weird as it has some programs on an A cable, and some on a B cable. Yes, there are actually a pair of coax cables comiing into the house. Then, third, I have HDTV/DTV coming in over the aerial. What this means is, I could have, say, a channel 3 that is THREE DIFFERENT PROGRAMS. One for the signal on Cable A, one for the signal on Cable B, and then another from the aerial.

So, my guess is, just because I tell the recorder that I want to record the DTV program on my guide on channel 3, it may go looking on another tuner/source for that channel. Is this correct? If so, I may have quite a dillema on my hands!

Does it record according to the channel number or the program name?

It doesnt use the channel number, but the channel identity field (which you can think of as the channel name).

You can for example, have MTV on a different channel number on each capture source, and it should still be able to record MTV correctly regardless of which capture source it ends up using.

Did you experience a problem? If so, give me the details and logs and I'll take a look.

OK, So it'll use, for example, the "13 KERA" section? If so, that really solves TWO problems! That means I can specify whether it records from the HD or SD tuner, also, because "13 KERA" is how the SD one is titled, and "13 KERAHD" is how the HD channel is titled.

We are talking the same field that the TV Guide icons read, right?
