I am trying to get my PVR set up and have got a Hauppauge 350 installed. I am using the built-in video out options to export to my TV. I am able to play live TV on my PC and export to my TV nicely when using the WinTV software that came with the card. However, when I try to use GBPVR I cannot watch live TV. I get the message on my PC screen "Video is playing back using TV out" over a black background. And on my TV, the GBPVR menu and controls appear but behind them is just black... no live TV.

I can play back stuff I have recorded thur play videos.

Also, if I disable the hardware decoder device in the playback tab of config I can watch live TV on the PC, but it won't export to the TV??

I have tried different video decoders and settings... does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks!

I dont support the PVR350 hardware decoder any more (stopped about 20 months ago). You'll need to set the 'hardware decoder' setting to 'none - use software decoding'.

You'd need to use a regular video card with TV out, rather than the PVR350's TV out.

Hmm, same issue here. But I understand I have to live with that. Well I can, but it is a bit of a pity...

Greetz, and happy new year to all of you!

@sub

Do you mean that the tv-out funcionality of the pvr 350 is now completly disabled in the new release, or only your support (like in the 20 months ago)? It would be nice to know before I upgrade because I still use the hardware decoder of the pvr 350.

I'm not aware of anything I've done that would break it, but I also havnt tested it in a very very long time.

Thanks Sub. I have done as you suggested (gone to software decoding) and everything seem to be working fine - I am not using a video card out, just the 350's s-video.

Any reason you stopped supporting the 350?

Because of bugs in the drivers that would cause about 50% of machines to either lockup or get the blue screen of death. I spent about a year trying to work around these only to come to the realisation that Hauppauge were about the only people that would have been able to fix the bugs (and no sign this would ever happen).

Do you mean you can use the s-video-out from the 350 to output the software-decoded video?:confused:

These are my first tentative steps with GP-PVR. Everything was going superbly until I tried outputting the video from my PVR 350 to TV. I get no output on the TV, but I thought I was just being stupid. I thought i had to redirect the output in the configutator somehow

Does this mean that the hardware encoder/decoder on the PVR 350 doesn't work with GB? My host machine is just a P3-800, 512m RAM, from what i have read, this is not enough for software decoding.

To be honest, I dont know if it's still working or not. I havnt purposefully done anything to stop it working, but I also havnt tested it in a very long time, so it could inadvertently have broken it with some other change.

If it still works, then the only thing you needed to do was set the 'hardware decoder' setting on the playback tab of the config app to 'PVR350'. If it doesnt work, then you'd need to try getting by with a software decoder.
