People really need to be taught about GBPVR - http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070107/ap_o...ling_media

Too true. I have just been reading another article about this topic and I can't believe how bloody ignorant all these huge companies and all the journalists are. So CES are having the main emphasis on this connectivity again. Bill is going to bang on again. Apple are having a go at it somewhere else. They all sound like headless chooks. Controlling the Slingbox from the computer two floors below is going to be a real killer product - not.

Imagine the resources devoted to the holy grail by all these giant companies compared with Hauppauge and our sub!!

There is a similar story on the BBC website

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/technology/20...ment.shtml

Quote:Vivek Pathela, vice president of product marketing at Netgear, was suitably jubilant about the device but reserved his greatest enthusiasm for one particular feature.

"You can watch YouTube on your TV," he cried.

Yes, the Digital Entertainer HD will let you access You Tube clips and watch them on your television.

They make out this is the cutting edge, the latest innovations from the hottest technology pioneers... WRONG.
3year old hardware ( PC + MVP ) + 99.5 does this for you NOW, without subscription and with low cost hardware.

But here I am preaching to the converted. Maybe its our job to point these "Technology jouralists" , who seem to do nothing more than reprint PR pieces from Microsoft and Apple, to the real innovations. Let them see just how limited and crippled the offerings from the "major players" are, and how good the alternatives are.

I've lost count of the number of 'PVR application roundups' which don't include GB-PVR, or even Myth.

I hear you. I did do one in a thread at AVSFORUM and that is why I ended up sticking with GBPVR. We should at least add to Wikipedia under HTPC and GBPVR.

Do you really want millions of people flooding to get gbpvr. rather than get a few questions on the best video decoder, you'll get thousands a day...
If you want to know why nPVR is the bomb, ask my wife!
