Okay, I just got a new High Def widescreen TV and I just hooked it up. But, GBPVR is stretched and thusly the Video is stretched! How can I get this straight? Is there some setting in GBPVR that will handle this or do I have to adjust the settings on my video output to the TV? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Did you set the TV shape to 16:9 in the config app?

No, it shouldnt, but try it to see.

If its not working, post some more details about the type of file you tried to play. If AVI also post the resolution. Also post a screenshot.

I'm off to watch telly now though, so wont answer until tomorrow.

Okay, it only stretches the image when watching Live TV. When watching AVI's or recorded MPEG's it handles the image fine. I don't know... any ideas?

Maybe I'll just go ahead and upgrade to the new version.

is the source widescreen at all? otherwise you have to basically decide between stretch (full/auto), black side bars (pillar box?), or cut top/bottom (remove pillar box)
* Rogers Analog Cable [Canada]
* Hauppauge WintTV PVR USB2
* IBM Thinkpad T42 / 1GB Mem / Centrino 1.6Ghz / 60GB HD / ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 + VGA/DVI out
* MCE Remote + Keyboard
* Win XP SP2 / GBPVR [Latest version. always]
* Pioneer HDTV via VGA (1360x768)
* MS Remote Keyboard
* Logitech Harmony 880 [via MS Remote Control Reciever]

I am using a Hauppauge PVR 150. The source is not widescreen. I understand that I have to choose, but I choose to have the edges cut off of the side instead of a stretched image. But, any recordings are played with the correct aspect ratio! Videos are played correctly as well! Only the Live TV mode is strecthed.

When you use a PVR150, all recordings and live tv are marked as 4:3 by the Hauppauge drivers (or encoder). When you watch this via GB-PVR, with the tv shape set to 16:9, and assuming you're in the 'auto' aspect ratio mode, then by default it'll try to pillar box the content, ie black bars on the left and the right, with 4:3 picture in the middle of your 16:9 tv.

If you're not getting this, then I suspect something else is trying to manage the aspect ratio. For example, with the nvidia decoder you need to view the settings and set the aspect ratio mode to 'anamorphic' which allows GB-PVR to manage the aspect ratio. I suspect you've got something like this occurring.

sub - I have a semi-related problem. I've got a Hauppage PVR500 card with a widescreen HDTV connected via VGA cable (1366x768 resolution).

Live TV and recordings come through just fine in 4:3 aspect ratio with black bars on the sides - problem is, they're not centered in the TV itself (one side black bar is thicker than the other).

Any way to fix this?
