I'm having problems with DVD audio with GBPVR. I can hear audio played from a normal audio CD and I can play DVDs normally with Media Center, but with GBPVR I can see, but not hear them.

I have numerous codecs installed, I'm not sure which ones I should configure GBPVR to use. The latest that I installed was the PureVideo evaluation decoder. It solved a problem I was having with Media Center, but with GBPVR I can see the video, but I can't hear any audio. From this thread on another forum I posted some screen shots that show the different codecs I have installed.

In GBPVR, I have only messed with the DVD configuration tab. Currently, I have Video Decoder and Audio Decoder set to System Default. For Audio Renderer I have tried system default and SoundMax Digital Audio with no luck.

I'm not sure what to try next. Is there some other tab that I need to configure? Sorry, I can't post logs till I get home later. I'm not sure which version of GBPVR either, but I downloaded it a less than 5 days ago, so its probably the latest version.

Try setting the Video Decoder and Audio Decoder to the specific decoder you want to try...

System default sometimes doesnt work well!

I tried that with no luck. I think I tried every option possible for Video Decoder, Audio Decoder, and Audio Renderer. It was exhausting.

I saw a different post where someone had no audio that said that the problem is probably do to some codec .... thing. A conflict of some sort. I unregistered every codec and the registered only the PureVideo codec, but that didn't work either. By "unregistered every codec" I mean that I unregistered using the "regsvr32 /u" command until there weren't any listed from DecCheck. Then I registered the PureVide codec.

I'm out of ideas now. Is it hardware issue? It seems unlikely since I can hear DVD audio using Media Center and WMP. I can also hear audio from GBPVR when watching live TV. But in another forum someone mentioned the wire that normally goes from a CD/DVD drive to the sound card. I don't have one of those. Does that matter?

Any other tricks to try?

What audio decoder options were listed in the config app?

Here's a screenshot, to save typing.

Other than the DVD config tab, should I need to mess with any of the other tabs to make this work?

I was unregistering MPEG-2 decoders I guess. Maybe I need to do the same thing only with audio decoders listed there. Where can I get a list of the dlls/.ax files for the audio decoders listed there?

Can you reproduce the problem with the nvidia audio decoder selected, then zip and attach the gbpvr.exe-native.log?

Sorry, I dont know. The logs look ok.

You could try deleting the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Devnz\LastVolume.

I don't have that registry entry. Should I?

What about this line in the log:

12:53:26.973 VERBOSE getSetting(PreferredDVDAudioRenderer)
12:53:26.988 VERBOSE FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: System Default
12:53:26.988 VERBOSE getSetting(PreferredDVDNavigator)

No, some people dont. I just wanted to check you didnt just have the volume turned down.

Assuming you've got your DVD audio decoder set to 'system default', then you can safely ignore this.
