I have been experiencing a freezing of what is displayed on the TV ever since I upgraded to 99.5 & adopted the community skin (which I really enjoy). That is, neither the remote nor the keyboard\mouse can change the screen dsiplay; the only thing that works is logging off the profile and then logging back on windows (switch user and then select the same user also works). I reverted to the blue skin and the freezing stops so I conclude it is something to do with the community skin. Is it possible that some of the choices in the community skin won't work for every system (i.e, some are MCE only choices, some are MVP choices, etc.)? I have a PVR-150 and only one tv attached to the computer.

With any luck, my logs for gbpvr and for the community skin are attached. Is there anything in particular in the logs that I should have looked for first?

As much as I enjoy the background picture of the lake, I am switching back to blue for now so I am in no hurry.

Alright, I'll look at it in the morning. I haven't had any issues like that.

What is happening when it locks up? Are you in the menus or watching video?

"... freezing of what is displayed on the TV..."
This is during TV playback?

The logs didn't give any clues.

There is nothing that I know of that would make it not work on an MVP (although I don't have one to test on).

The logs really didn't give me an indication of what is going on during the lockups. The gbpvr.exe.log generally gives a good idea of what is going on at certain points.

It can freeze just about anywhere but only after a period of inactivity (inactivity of the screen, not necessarily the program). My first thought had been that it was the sceensaver itself so I turned it off; when it continued to happen, I chose a different screensaver logo and turned it back on. That is, if I leave the recordings menu on display, it is the recordings menu that is frozen; if I have the screen saver on, it is the screen saver screen that freezes. The computer itself isn't necessarily frozen as, in all but one case, the scheduled shows continued to freeze. [The exception likely relates to something else such as too many commands at one time; I had been trying to delete a show that was in the process of recording because I had watched it on broadcast tv so I didn't need it anymore. However, I digress.] Because it only happens when I'm not watching TV, I haven't observed it happening during the playing of a show.

I considered that it might have been too many updates scheduled for the same time (thinking that 7 a.m. is a good time, I had inadvertantly chosen that time for updating theatre, zap2it and my AVG virus checker. However, I have now rearranged things so that there should be no overlap.

My latest try is to choose the blue theme in community skin. I know that it doesn't freeze if I choose blue in the config panel so now I am trying to see if it freezes when I choose community skin in the config panel but then use the skin option to select the blue theme.

I am now guessing that my freezing problem is a windowsXP problem and not a GBPVR problem or a skin problem. I spoke to my brother-in-law, who knows a lot more about computers than I do, and that's what he thinks. The problem is getting more frequent, both in blue skin and community skin. I will have to hope that a future patch from Windows will solve the problem. For now, I just exit the viewing part of gbpvr when I am finished to prevent the freezing problem from happening.

Thank you for your assistance.

Sorry I missed your post before this one. In general, if you experience the same problem the the Blue skin (NOT theme), then the problems are not caused by whatever other skin you use.

Hope you get your PC problems ironed out. I need to fix my HTPC myself. I thought I had a RAM problem, but now I suspect motherboard.
