Having transcoded my "MPEG-2.5" radio recordings to MPEG2 so my MVP will play them, I discovered that I can't really listen to them after all because GBPVR provides no FF or RW function for Music Library.

I can see why FF and RW might be a low priority (even a non-issue) for music files. But much of my MP3 listening is radio recordings, podcasts, and audiobooks, and FF and RW (especially) are essential for listening to these files, both to replay something that was missed, and to skip over a portion that was listened to previously.

The keyboard keys (Ctrl-F/D) and remote buttons (FF/FW) are free for these functions. Any change of GBPVR of taking advantage of them?

(Thanks again for a great PVR system!)

Maybe in a future release.

One problem is that the FF/RW buttons are used on some screens, so I'd probably only be able to have these keys work on the Music Library screen. Would this be adequate? Would you want it to fast forward (chip munk voices) or skip 10 seconds with each press (can hold key to continually skipping)?

Yeah, that'd be my preference aswell.

If I do it, I'll add an API aswell.

Yes, I'll do that.

I probably wont do playback control for video at this stage.

Actually I meant please implement a skip, and a "skip to" function similar to what you already have for video (your resume). Not please implement it for video as well. Cheers.

That would be fine. If I was listening to something that needs RW/FF then I'd be unlikely to be browsing elsewhere in the system.

I'd vote for the skip -- especially if the interval could be adjusted somewhere/somehow.

Glad to see there's other interest in this!
