I thought that I had this solved when I found that I had not unchecked the Force minimal OSDS box in the MVP tab of the config.app but I have not. I again am having trouble changing channels. When I press the keys to change channel on the remote, I am just as likely to go to the menu page, as to change channels. I have changed the numbers for the MVp Live pre-play as Sub has suggested, and making the number larger or smaller just makes the problem worse
On a hunch that the problem may be on the Play Back tab, I have been decreasing the numbers for the Live TV pre-play delay on the PB tab. The smaller I make the number, it seems the less likely to go to the Menu page. I started with this number at 1800 as shown on the WIKI. Could this be a solution? I don't know why the number on the WIKI is 1800!
Any other suggestions? What about a hardware problem? I did drop the remote once, but only about 2 feet. Everything works well from the keyboard.

When I do press the numbers to change channels, one of the picture frames is frozen for some time. Then it either changes or goes to the menu.

Also, when MVP looses contact with GBPV, it takes a long time to get re-established. Sometimes, I have to turn everything off and start over.

Thanks

I know you hate this sub, but I'm going to add a small "me too" it might be (probably is) completely unrelated, but my MVP remote (yes batteries changed) does not seem to react anywhere near as well as it used to. I have to hold the button I am pressing down for quite a while before it "reacts". I did drop the remote once too.

Perhaps this will help in diagnosing the problem. Occasionally everything works well, and the channels change in well less than a second. However when there is a problem, (the problem is more likely when using the cannel up/down button) the last picture from the channel that I want to leave freezes for a large part of a second. The longer that it freezes, the more likely I will be directed back the the Recording Menu page, with the Live TV button highlighted. To go back to Live TV I usually have to presses OK two or three times. Then I am directed to the channel tht I wanted to change to. On some occasions, I get a totally black screen and regardless which button I press, all I can get is a flash of the TV listings for a channel, and the recording bar across the top. Pressing a lot of button may get me back to the start up screen of MVP where it is trying to contact the server. In these instances, it usually fails, and I have to restart MVP to get back up.

Suggestions?

Thanks

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Although I played with a few numbers in the config, I think that all were put back to the same as in the WIKI.(correction: he delay in Playback tab was at 1900, not 1200. The zip file in the nest messge changing channesl 5.zip is done at 1200)

I changed channels with the Channel up/down button and on the first effort it went to the Recording menu instead of the next channel. I Zipped all of the logs, then went back to the remote. I had to hit OK three times before it proceeded to the desired channel. Some times I have to hit ok as many as 6 times to get it to proceed. Sometimes I get a black screen that is difficult to get out of; when I hit some of the buttons, I get the TV Listings and the recording bar at the top, but no picture. Sometimes after hitting numerous buttons, I find on my PC a message that the program has had difficulties and wants to quit.

Hopefully I have zpped and attached these correctly. Hopefully you will find the problem.

Thanks

I redid this when I note that I had put back a wrong number in the Playback tab file. This one is run at 1200 just like in the WIKI. When I finished zipping this, I ad to hit OK three times to activate Live TV. It varies from 1 to 6 when I am having problems changing channels.

Good Luck

It seems that its trying to change channels but the file doesnt exist, or is not growing.

The logs dont indicate any errors starting this recording. Can you try reproducing it and see if the new live tv file gets created?

I didn't understand what you wanted before and think tht this is better. This log is done while the Playback delay and the MVP delay are at the setting recommended in the WIKI. Most of the time changing channels failed (getting sent back to the Record Menu) and most of the keystokes here are clicking OK to get back to Live TV.

For what it is worth, I have better success in changing channels when the delay in Playback is set to a lower number. However there are still plenty of failures, and if I set too low, it seems that the channel changes in the wrong direction occasionally

See my comments above. You need to check whether the new video file is being created when you change channels.

Let me describe what happens. About 30% of the time, the channel changes perfectly; first the TV listing data and recording bar (time deay bar) flash up, and they are very quickly followed by the correct video.

When the channel does not change, the TV Lising data and the recording bar flash up as usual and are followed by one of about 3 things. Most frequently, a frame from the previous/old channel is display for a half second or so. This is followed either by a frame of the new channel that is also frozen but not for as long a period of time, or by the Recording menu. Sometimes after the TV Listing is flashed, a frame of the new channel is dsiplayed and then the menu comes up . Only a frame or so of the new video ever shows up before the menu comes up. Sometimes after the TV Listing flashes, the screen goes black, or the menu appears immediately.

So I guess my answer is that I sometimes see a frame or two of the new video before the menu comes up. Mostly I see one frame of the old video displayed for a half second or so.

When I first started noticing this problem, it ony happened occasionally. Now it happens most of the time.

Ihope that this answers your question.
