My goal is simple: upgrade the processing power of the PVR PC to speed up the user interface, but retain the PVR-350 for video quality.
My Celeron 400 with 256MB of RAM is functional but some aspects of the GUI are slow. I don't plan to go to a software decoder solution though I am toying with the idea of upgrading the system as if I were, just in case.
Would a Pentium-III 1GHz provide enough thrust to make the GUI response reasonable with a PVR-350 doing the heavy lifting?
I was thinking a P4 solution (2+ GHz) would be a good performance benchmark for software decoding, if I ever wanted it.
The poll is: what is compatible with the PVR-350? Intel 845 chipset? My Celeron has an i810 and it seems "compatible." Has anyone had any trouble with the PVR-350 with an Intel chipset-based motherboard (P3 or 4)?
