I just upgraded to vista and have been playing around with both media center and gbpvr. When i record a show in gbpvr, the file size is now extraordinarily large and I am unable to play it back in wmp ? My first test of a 30 min show resulted in a 25 gig file? I never really used wmp before to try to play back the .mpgs but I could have sworn it worked before. I have a hauppage 350.

You can sometimes get this if you've selected the wrong card type in the config app. Did you use the 'only show devices detected in this machine' checkbox to check?

actually no i didn't, I will try that next.

edit: ok i tried that and I indeed had the correct card selected. I tried playing it back thru gbpvr and that didn't work either so apparently the file is getting corrupt somehow? I tried some recordings I made on xp and they played fine on the vista box thru gbpvr. I made yet another short recording, of about one min in length and it made a gig size file.

Ok I also tried uninstalling/reinstalling gbpvr, I also played around between switching between 250 and 350. All for the same result

Have you tried setting the card as a PVR150? If you have a PVR150 but set your capture source as a PVR250/350, then the MPEG actually ends up with raw video data which is huge, much like you describe.

Worth a shot.

As far as I know, there are no official drivers for this card in Vista. That could be the problem.

Yeah, good point.

Have you seen recordings work in any software on Vista?
