Hello All,

First off - being totally new to the PVR thing, I must say this rocks. Excellent software and support. Better than some of the comercial pieces I tried first.

I have a question that I hoping someone hear can help with. It has little to nothing to do with the software I believe but I bet someone here has expirience with this - probably many people.

In the lower frequencies - meaning channels 02-40 the picture quality while watching live TV is fine, as we progress further up the picture gets worse and worse. It looks like heavy interference or detuning. The TV that is on the same source line is fine. I heavy pretty good qaulity splitters and cable so I don't suspect that it is them that is the problem. Just to prove this I am going to connect the TV Tuner card directly to the single input cable line in the house.

The tuner card is a Conextant Blackbird, the PC is an AMD Opteron Dual Core 1212 with a Foxconn 8800GTS Nvidia card (PCX16). 2 Gigs PC8000 ballistix on a DFI NF590 AM2 Motherboard. I doubt the hardware is the problem - although the tuner card is cheap and was given to me. The odd thing is the TV is fine it's only the PC that has this problem.

Thanks in advance and for a great piece of software and support!

Take Care,

All I could really suggest for this is trying different capture drivers and hopefully you'll find some that'll behave better.

Afaik when you have a weakish signal the high frequencies are the first to suffer from quality loss. Not every device is as vulnerable for a weak signal. If you use a splitter you might try taking it out see if that helps, otherwise try to borrow a signal-amplifier. And of course check the cable and hardware.

If you have a portable TV, you could try it on the line going to your video card, this would check cables and filters.

Make sure to use RG-9 cable, not the older RG-59.
