Now that I'm getting the client to work (only recordings BTW, still doesn't work for me for live TV, but that's a different story), I wanted to install one client on my machine upstairs, but also one for my daughter so she can see her recordings in her room.

However, only for her client, I want her not to be able to delete recordings. In case she presses something by mistake.

Even more so - I would like to be able to stop her from watching specific shows (let's say there's a recording of her show, next to Prison Break or the Sopranos...).

Are those two options available, and if not, can the make it to future features?
* Rogers Analog Cable [Canada]
* Hauppauge WintTV PVR USB2
* IBM Thinkpad T42 / 1GB Mem / Centrino 1.6Ghz / 60GB HD / ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 + VGA/DVI out
* MCE Remote + Keyboard
* Win XP SP2 / GBPVR [Latest version. always]
* Pioneer HDTV via VGA (1360x768)
* MS Remote Keyboard
* Logitech Harmony 880 [via MS Remote Control Reciever]

Ok, I've added some settings in config.xml for the next release.

Sorry, there isnt something that does this. I think some of the other recordings plugins can prompt for a PIN.

I'll look into that. I guess it's under the category of Parental Control, which many devices have. I guess you will be more intersted when your kids are older Big Grin

Wait, wait - so how do you do that separation?

They (mine) don't watch recordings on the main TV that much, not without us, so this is less of a problem here. But am setting a GB-PVR client for my daughter, on her PC, so she can watch her recordings. However, all recordings are done on the main GB-PVR (attached to the TV). If she's using GB-PVR on herslef in her room, then she can go anywhere. I would like eventually to enable (or disable) her from watching specific recordings, and also if was possible in the future do parental block on some channels (either inclusive or exclusive) - but only on her client!

can we have a client/server topic under the support forum?

I understand what you want, but its just not a feature in GB-PVR at this stage. Maybe some time in the future though.

There is no specific client/server thread.

Ok. But you didn't explain how you got to have a screen for the kids only with "just their stuff"?

So, do you think it could be beneficial to have one?

Its a special screen. It'll be accessible for others to use in the next release, but may or may not work for your purposes since its really aimed at young kids. It doesnt have any buttons, just a list of recordings or DVDs or channels (no buttons to return to main menu etc).

Sounds perfect! Say again, when is that release coming?Wink

This is interesting - so you're saying your kids are beta-testing (or even "alpha-testing"?) your next releases?

Are there strong laws in NZ against using kids as guinea-pigs in scientific experiments? hehe :p

It should be within the next two weeks.
