I have been looking at the following freeview cards:

Nebula DigiTV
and
WinTV Nova-T

I understand that although these cards capture a digital MPEG2 signal and can record it to disk, GB-PVR does not support them.  What is required to allow GB-PVR to cope with them?

What is required? Probably not much.

Does anyone know what to of MPEG2 stream these capture, Program Stream or Transport Stream? If it produces a program stream, its likely to be relatively easy to get going, assuming that directshow components exist for these devices.

You might need to hunt for a utility that provides details on mpeg files. I dont know the name of one off hand.

I'm fairly sure there would be a utility on http://www.divx-digest.com/software/index3.html or one of their software pages to provide details about an MPEG2 file.

One of the ones I use is MpegAn (with MpegAn GUI). They can be found here. I don't know if it handles transport streams or not. Be sure to get the GUI if you download it.

That looks like a pretty useful tool.

If you use MpegAn withou the GUI, you get LOTS of information. For that kind of detail, I like bbtools.
