Installation goes fine and when it tries to automatically run the config for the first time it bombs and I lose my config settings and have to re-enter everything again. This happened on 99.05 also.

I copied off my config.xml and gbpvr.db3 to the desktop and once the installation was done my config.xml from the desktop was gone. Does that make sense?
Anyway I take it there is no way to get my old settings back and I have to re-enter. Is that right?

Actually it didn't lose everything this time. Capture sources were still there. FM radio presets ok. Pretty much everything on the config screens except capture and channels was back to default though.
This time I had written down all my settings so it was pretty quick to setup.

Thats odd its happened for you with both releases. I cant think of any reason and havnt seen other reports of this.

Was there any entry added to the Windows Event Viewer when this happened?

No, that doesnt make sense. How would it know you had a copy in some other directory? You sure you didnt just create a shortcut?

If you still had your config.xml and gbpvr.db3, you'd need to uninstall, delete the GB-PVR directory, reinstall the old version, restore the config.xml and gbpvr.db3, then do the upgrade again.

What were some examples of settings that were wrong?

EDIT this was a net 2.0 runtime error
This was actually right before the event that the installation completed succesfully

not a shortcut I did the right click drag to desktop and select copy.
Same for the database file.
Here's the rub, the same thing happened on the 99.05 upgrade. I copied the config.xml to the desktop then too. I know it doesn't make sense..

EDIT There is one thing I didn't mention. Both times I installed the MSI from the desktop. Config.xml was also on the desktop. Could that be an issue?

One thing I always get is if I start gbpvr and then exit within the first 30 seconds or so I also get a GPF. I doubt it's related. I allways assumed it was the weather or the tv guide update bombing when the app quite before they were done.

On general tab windowed was selected - I use fullscreen
On Playback tab decoders were set to default.
VMR9 was selected I had vmr7.

On directories tab all of the directories were set to c:\
I had different dirs setup.

On DVD/Remote decoders were set to default remote was MCE.

I had setup various dirs on the plugin menu to organize the plugins.
All these dirs were gone.

It didn't take long to fix.

Sorry, I dont know. If anyone else reports it, I'll take a closer look.

Its probably some oddity of the MSI installer. It works in strange and misterious ways...

Fair enough. Guess I'll save my backup config.xml somewhere besides in the dir with the MSI if that was the trouble. Put it on the wall of the weird..
