Difference in recording size

Not really a problem but I thought this was interesting. I recorded two different shows, each an hour long. One on abc13 in houston and one on channel 11. The show on 13(Lost) took up approx 8 GB while the one from 11(Survivor) was 5GB. Both were OTA HD.

Since it is OTA HD the bitrate is controlled by the broadcaster. The higher the bitrate the larger the file. It appears if your ch11 is running their HD at a lower bitrate than the other. In my area CBS is running several(maybe 3) channels in the OTA digital signal(2 SD and 1 HD). Therfore they run the HD at a lower bitrate to make room for the 2 addtional channels.
