Thanks in advance

It's not so much your internet speed but your LAN speed. As to whether you'll need a router... if you plan to connect your MVP directly to the GBPVR server PC, you won't. If not then yes you will.

To properly answer your question though, we'd need to know more about what you plan to do and the hardware you have or will have in your LAN system.

Your Internet connection really has nothing to do with the connection between your MVP and PC. Since you have Cable or DSL, I assume you currently have your cable/dsl modem connected directly to your PC?

What you will need to do with the MVP is set up a local network inside your home. The easiest way to do this would probably be to buy a Cable/DSL router. You can get one for $20 here:

http://www.compusa.com/products/product_...te=dealmac

When you've got a router, connect the uplink port to your Cable/DSL modem. Then, connect 2 other ports to your PC and MVP. It doesn't matter at all how fast the Cable/DSL connection is. In fact, you could unplug your internet connection and your MVP would still work over your local network.

I recently got an MVP and highly recommend them. They are small and silent, and the picture quality and reliability is quite good.

The MVP's do a great job of streaming content around the house. I use them almost exclusively here. My setup is to use them from a router, since it was easier for me to run wire to the router and i didn't have to install any other dhcp software. They put very little demand on the serving system, I've had 5 of going at one time with no problems. Their only problem is they won't do HD. Since I use them more for streaming music that wasn't a big consideration.

I have 2 set up eclusively for playback of recorded shows. They are both wired over 100 Mb to the router and work great for playing back recorded shows.

Mostly they satisfy the WAF, since I don't need a big, clunky computer sitting in the living room anymore.
