I certainly don't think this is a GBPVR or a EWA issue, but seems the most likely to get some experienced opinions.

I'm going to throw out some of my experiences, and see what bites i get.

First, When i start a stream, I would see VLC kick off.. and then after a couple seconds die. I troubleshot this forever, thinking it was a setting. Eventually.. it just worked. I never figured out what I did, and I reverted all my settings.

Next, and this is a big one. After I connected to the stream, all I heard was audio. I did not get any video playback (From a TV channel). I moved an AVI I made years ago (divx) into the Videos folder, streamed it, and it worked.

Lastly, after listening to the streaming audio for a minute, the streaming server would just die. I did this a couple times, and now I'm back at issue #1 Smile (It wont start.. after this post, I'm rebooting)

I'm running the latest VideoLan, GVPVR and EWA.. Any advice, or insight is greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Did you happen to upgrade to the newest version of VLC that came out a couple of months back and this started working?

Did your up-speed on your Internet connection get increased....or where these issues present both internally and externally?

Sounds like a codec issue.....are you using VLC or WMP as the client? WMP will only work with the WMV setting that is available in the pre-set list....VLC will play anything.......except for the MS Media Center proprietary format.....

What CPU are you running?

How much RAM do you have?

What Client are you using?

What are the specs on the Client PC?

Does this happen if you access the stream on the host pc?

Windows 10 Pro x64

Yes, newest version of everything.

UncleJohnsBand Wrote:Did your up-speed on your Internet connection get increased....or where these issues present both internally and externally?

Sorry, important detail omitted. I'm am doing this all a) locally and b) LAN.

UncleJohnsBand Wrote:Sounds like a codec issue.....are you using VLC or WMP as the client?

I agree. VLC, 100%.

UncleJohnsBand Wrote:What CPU are you running?
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+

UncleJohnsBand Wrote:How much RAM do you have?
2G

UncleJohnsBand Wrote:What Client are you using?
VLC, only.

UncleJohnsBand Wrote:What are the specs on the Client PC?
I'm trying this locally, and on an Intel Core 2 Duo with 1G RAM.

Yup! And after the reboot, the stream doesn't run. Sad VLC starts, then exits.
I wish there was some debugging logs somewhere for what it's doing/calling.

Well, I recorded a video, and VLC wouldn't open it. Gspot reveals:
Codec: Y41P

Hm.

Ok...lets start with basics......

Can yu open the video with VLC without using EWA?

Are your recordings .mpg files?

No, the post above implies that the file will not open with VLC. The file type is actually AVI, it seems.

Only works if you are using the GUI. The streamer doesn't throw the GUI up. it runs a command line, in the background.

Welll now you confused me....your first reply indicates that the file will not open with VLC.

Then your second reply indicates it only works when using the GUI....what GUI? VLC? GBPVR?

If you can't open the avi with native VLC then you won't be able to stream it either.......

If VLC can't play it then I would assume you are missing a playback codec or it is in a format that it can not process. Look here.

You can try loading the K-lite codec pack and see if that helps.....

UnlceJohn,

Sorry to be confusing. That's the LAST thing I want, when trying to get help.
When I was referencing VLC only works in GUI, I was refering to hammers post about debug log.

However, I have some good news. I reinstalled. I had my config hosed up, and now it's much better.

I can watch the recordings again. However, my initial problem, the one where I stream video, see VLC start, and then it ends is being a nuisance.

In this post I've attached some very clean logs since service start up, then stream. Hopefully someone in the know can look at these and tell me what the heck is going on!

Thanks!

Actually to check streaming stuff I need the web logs......you can either access them from the statistics page or you can drill down in this directory tree until you find the folder that contains the gbpvrpublic.dll and a logs folder....

Code:
