Dear All,

I've been doing some testing & tuning on my MVP setup, and seem to have found a combination that works.

1. Dongle 11520.bin
2. Vista Firewall disabled
3. Hauppauge TCP Optimisations
"TcpWindowSize"=dword:000f4240
"Tcp1323Opts"=dword:00000001
4. GBPVR 99.12 (need to fix my sig!)

I did need to pull the MVP power plug to get the dongle to take. The dongle alone got the MVP working beyond a few keypresses, and the TCP optimisations seems to have gotten video streaming properly.

I'll do some more testing and let you know what else I can find.

Regards,
Dane

You don't need to disable the firewall. Add exemptions for gbpvr.exe and recordingservice. A safer proposition.

Interesting that you needed to change those tcp parameters. I haven't done that. Might try it but I get such good Internet download speed with Vista I don't want to upset that!

A question:- do you have video inset (sub-windows for video in menu screens) enabled?

Speed test - now 2.9Mbs from a nominal 2Mbs account! Xp was 1.8 and Vista was typically 2.6 before. Might run with this!

After reinstalling GBPVR as an administrator on Vista and using the beta 1.1.52 dongle.bin, I seem to be getting a very stable MVP.

Granted it has only been less than 2 days since I installed it this way, but last night I used the MVP for over 3 hours without having to soft power it off at all. And that was playing Live TV, recordings, YouTube recordings. I did a lot more skip\rewind\pause than I had done in the past due to that causing me to have to restart the MVP. In the past I have had to soft power it off several times in that kind of time frame if I was cruising the TV guide and using FF/RW like I did last night.

I do have video inserts on, but I don't have it on in the TV Guide screen. But it is on for the recordings screen and main menu screen that I was using. I will turn that on in the TV Guide and see if it causes problems.

I did not make any registry changes and I have my windows firewall active but allow GBPVR through.

I will keep you all updated if this changes.

To insure that I installed GBPVR as an administrator I opened a Command Window by right clicking on it and selecting run as administrator. I then navigated to the directory with the GBPVR09912.msi file and ran it from the command window. I then applied all of the GBPVR patches in the 99.12 survival guide.

I don't know if this makes a difference, but I had the MVP unplugged during the install.

The default blue skin doesnt device an inset window on the TV Guide screen. It does for the other screens. You can add it though in the "tv guide\skin.xml" file.

I guess its time I gave skin editing a try...should be interesting. Off to the wiki.

Could you please let me know where you got that dongle from. The Taiwan site referred elsewhere seems to be down Sad
