Hi. I am a new GBPVR user. I am using the PVR-350 for capture and playback. I want to do the following:

1. capture shows and have them transcoded into divx
2. play the divx with on-the-fly transcode back through the PVR-350 out as mpeg.

I am able to do #1 jus fine and have a few .avi's that play with the VLC player. They show up in my video folder when I browse for video. When I go to play them, the screen looks like it is going to play (ie. time line with show details at the bottom). However, the show time line is about 12s and no video ends up playing.

I have tried to futz around with ffmpeg and zprocess, but am totally lost. Does anybody have any suggestions? I would really appreciate some help. Thank you.

Is your system fast/powerful enough for transcoding on the fly, it should be ~ P4 2ghz minimum?

Does a xxxx.mpg get created in the recordings-dir?
AMD Athlon 64 3000, HDD: 80, 120, 200 GB, Hauppauge 350 + 150, MVP, Asus 6000L Laptop client, Asus X50sl client,
Fritz!box 7140 modem/router, GBPVR 1.3.7.

It would be great if we knew the system specs. We may just have to tweak a few things. I'll bet you can get something that you like...

Here is my system stuff:
Penium D 3GHz
1.93 GB RAM
Hauppauge PVR 350 (in and out)

I am able to use zprocess to turn divx (.avi) files into .mpeg manually using the zprocess GUI, but I don't know how to get it to do it on-the-fly and then to delete the temp .mpeg when I am done watching.

When I try to play the .avi through GBPVR, it does not make a xxx.mpg. It pretty much does nothing that i can see.

Well that should be easy. You computer is certainly strong enough..

First I'm hoping that you have installed ZProcess into the recommended folder, mostly for discussion and explanation purposes...

Start ZProcess and click Utilities tab, then click GB-PVR settings.

Click 'check ZProcess.exe'. Nothing may happen. That's OK...
Next click 'Remove All Refs', and then after a bit, click 'Add Refs'

Then make sure you have these values set on the right:
MVP Transcode using FFmpeg = True
MVP Transcode All Video = False

Click the 'Save to config.xml'. It will tell you that the service must be restarted. Click 'restart service'...

Now assuming that you have set up a Trans2MVP profile on the Transcode tab, that makes sense ... The default is fine

You can go to your MVP, open the Videos Panel select a video, and a few seconds later the video will still play.

This assumes that you have already setup all your paths so ZProcess knows where to create the temp MVP file. (Make sure the Root Backup and Override folders are set to something that makes sense. Also GB-PVR is expecting ZProcess to create the temp file in the Recordings folder, Be sure that it isn't being used for the backup or override directories...

This is the temp file, and not the correct filename. You should not have to worry if all the paths have been set correctly in ZProcess. The file is actually something like: MVP01234568.mpg where the numbers are the MAC address of your MVP. It is created in the Recordings directory. It may or may not be there. ZProcess does do clean up.

If your are having further trouble, check the logs...

Thank you for your assistance. I have done all of the config steps like you said and it still does not seem to work. But very basic question (pls don't laugh): I do not have MVP, I have the PVR-350 PCI card. Do I need MVP to playback .avi with zprocess? would you like me to attach some .logs? if so which ones?

When I just try to play the .avi from the videos folder through GBPVR, no entry is added to the zprocess log.

FYI. Here is a log from a manual transcode using trans2MVP I did. The mpeg got created fine, but there is this error 13 thing.

I'd like you to send the logs if you don't mind. there are three I'd like you to zip and send now...ZProcess.log, ZProcessRegSettings.log, and ZProcessVerifyFiles.log

(If you don't have 'ZProcessVerifyFiles.log' then you aren't using the latest ZProcess... )
