Help With Media MVp setup and how to get it to work properly?
Hello,

i have the media MVp hooked to m computer via linksys router, it can find my computer but on lets me view what i have already recorded. How do i set it up so i can view live tv and change channels and set recordings. Please Help.

Also can you set up the MVP on the router to access a computer that is wirelessly connected to the network?

Hi you will need to disable the Hauppauge services, goto control panel, go into admin tools, then select services and stop the 2 Hauppauge mvp services.
Once you have done this goto gbpvr config, mvp, then on "number of servers to auto start" select 1.

Hopefully once you`ve done this you should have the gbpvr interfance on your tv, to view live tv etc

Cheers

Pete

Don't forget to set your linksys router to be a dhcp server as the MVP needs an DHCP server to give it it's ip address and GBPVR does not have one. FYI, the standard Hauppauge software does have DHCP server, this is why your linksys can be setup not to be a DHCP server.

BTW, it might be good to disable all firewall software until you can get it to work

I have got it to work for a bit, i skipped the linksys router and used a crossover Ethernet connection and stopped and disabled the hauppage services. But when i went to bed and my computer was turned off, when i woke up it showed me a picture in the top left corner that looked like it had no network connection, i had restarted the computer and restarted the MVP and it gets to contacting the mediaMVp boot server (which i have the GBPVR MediaMVP Server running), then it will change to have Contacting DHCP server and get no further, just back and forthe between the 2. What can i do to fix this, am i going ot have to go through this everytime i turn off my computer?

I have exact same issue even if I ue the standard MVP software. Is it a hardware problem with the actual box all of suddden? (Worked for years), or a software issue. Hard to know!
