Up until a few weeks ago I could play a show while it was recording, or even switch to live TV for a channel that is being recorded. Now it stops at the first frame of video and does nothing. Any idea what causes this, and what may have changed?

What is a .ts file? What is mux? Are you saying that I should never have been able to play a show while it's recording, and shouldn't be able to switch to live TV while a show is recording?

Ah, you've got analog devices. It wont be that then.

Can you reproduce the problem, then zip and attach your logs?

Ah, I notice you've got you decoders set to 'system default'. You've probably installed/uninstalled something that has changed the default system decoder for MPEG video.

You you should try to explicitly select the video decoder rather than relying on 'system default'.

It has always been "system default". Should I choose different decoders until I find a combo that works for me?

Its much better to explicitly select your decoder, otherwise you end up getting some random one that Window's chooses. You'll find something you've done on your machine has caused Windows to choose a different default than you have recently been using.

Choose the decoder you'd like to use.

I don't know anything about any of the decoders. I chose DirectSound for audio since it should be supported well and connected to my HW, and DScaler for video.

Just try them all then until you find a combination you're happy with. Play with the video decoder setting first. I suspect it was the DScaler video decoder causing your problem, so try another video decoder as well.
