Hi All,

I've been using GB-PVR on an old compuer for a year or so. I have my computer tucked in a closet behind my entertainment center and it's hooked up to my older Television (Non-HD). My (wife's) biggest complaint is that the image has horrible color and a little skewing. I've played with the NVidia TV-Out settings and have been able to make some small improvements but it's still bad. I'm hoping that a better graphics card will make a big difference.

Any recommendations? Anyone else using a regular television and a video card with S-Video out that is happy with the image quality? What card are you using??? Thanks.

Looks like your motherboard is using NVidia's 6100 chipset. Is the image quality nice on your TV?

Which capture card do you use? If it's the hauppauge there is a utility to tweak various settings. Also if there is skewing, you might want to try a different decoder, different renderers (VMR9/7 overlay), older quartz.dll, and possibly older Nvidea graphics drivers.

Thanks for your reply. You might be right about the problem being with my capture card settings and not necessarily with the graphics card. I'm using the Hauppauge PVR-150. What settings should I tweak and what is the name of the utility?

Also, are you suggesting that I should try an older quartz.dll and/or graphics drivers or are you suggesting that I should see if they are up to date?

I would guess that the colour can be fixed/improved by using the tweak tool

http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utili...eTweakTool

Make sure you set the colour setting for your video card back to default before you start playing with it.

skewing may be the video card. I have a small skew on the top left border of my image.

I use a fairly weedy ATI 9600 pro with a good quality svideo to scart cable. i think the picture is great, although sports such as football can get a little fuzzy with the fast moving images panning across the screen.

What graphics card /chipset does your pc have?

6150 actually and yes it's no different than the direct cable however I am still having trouble with channel 2.

Like Ged said for the tweak tool. The older quartz.dll seems to help some people with choppy performance. You'll need to search for it on the forum. If you get stuck I will post it.
Nvidea had a problem with their graphics drivers and an older version apparently worked better. I use an ATI card so I can't help you with the version. Hopefully a search of the forum will yield some info, or better yet, someone that has gone through this would chime in.

The Hauppauge has if I remember correctly, hue and saturation settings. It's real easy to tweak, just get the tool.
If you have a way to get Svideo out of your graphics card and into your TV that would be better than composite, especially if you are having color issues.
