Theatrix 550 help

Hey guys, I know I'm like 2 years late getting in on all this action but i'm here nonetheless, and I'm a noob.

So I've installed everything, gb-pvr is working except that my epg is off by 30 min, which I'll try and troubleshoot myself, but my biggest issue right now is the output file. Is there a comprehensive thread around here for getting good quality smaller file sizes in divx, xvid, 264 or anything. I'm running good ol theater 550.

These devices produce MPEG-2 video, so you end up with an MPEG-2 file, but you set it do post processing to convert the file to some other type.

I personally use a modified version of the first one to convert all my files to xvid each night.
