Thinking of getting one of these, just to play with.
Am I in for more headaches than it's worth?

I have one of the clones (I think Powercolor made it but can't remember) in my bedroom PVR, anyways it uses a 550 chip and works just fine for me. Damned good picture too.

No the remote is not compatible with GB-PVR. I dont have access to one of these remotes at this stage.

I got the card today, can't wait to try it out with gb-pvr. Haven't used any software other than those that came with tv-cards. This is the first time i own a hardware card. Hopefully the remote function will be added soon.

Thanks for the reply sub.

I got the Sapphire Theatrix 550 Pro card and am very plesed with the quality.
My first card so I can not compare with a lot but the quality of TV and video is great.
The remote (Cyberlink)is about 75% compatable with gbpvr 93.10

Everything works on the remote except there are no "color" buttons on the Cyberlink and 9 of the 10 button at the top of the remote don't function. (those being direct call to "TV, Radio, Language, DVD and a few other things that can be accessed through the gbpvr menu anyway.
Just set the remote to "MCE" in the gbpvr config and it will be compatable enough to use.

This is the same card as the ATI TV wonder Elite. The Elite version is about 150.00 US the Sapphire I got for 75.00 US

The only difference is that the Elite includes an RF remote (nice) the Sapphire has an IR remote (needs line of site)

Actually I have a Sapphire Theatrix 550Pro ATI and the remote works just fine.

The button arrangment is a bit sloppy (modified for Powercinema) but most of the buttons work AOK. If you install the Powercinema what will annoy you is certain buttons you need to press for GBPVR will call up and open Powercinema. once you yank the app and uninstall it they work fine.

I'm another very happy user of a TUL/Powercolor 550.

The remote control basic functions work, but none of the advanced buttons.

I have seen this link in several threads pertaining to the RW and RW Plus.
I don't know if it is still compatible with GBPVR as I am still in the build(hardware) process.
As to my remote; RW+ it was DOA and I'm working with ATI for a replacement.
The ATI 550 Pro on the other hand is awesome, and I'm only using the included software.

edit:
My bad, I just noticed the remote for the Theatrix is totally different from the RW.
