I am having a couple of issues with Music Library 2. The first is that not all of my songs are showing up in the library. The songs that do show up I am able to play. The next issue I am having is that I created 4 playlists in Windows Meida Player 11 and saved them as M3U files. When I go to play any of these playlists I recieved an Error (I can't tell you what the message says because it gets covered up before I can read it). Then I tried to go back into Music Library 2 and recieve another error message. I have attached a screen shot of how I have the Paths & Collections set up and the error log that was created by Music Library 2 (I only turned this on after I started getting error messages. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
David

For some reason I can't attach these files. Let me know what you need to look at since I cannot include the log in this message (it was way too long). I am willing to email the files as well.

You might want to read this post, it's about support and posting etc.

wrt ML2: Do the files that don't show up in ML2 have id3-tags?

dtraynhum - are you from an English speaking country? I knew there are issues with reading/selecting files that contain non english character sets - this includes german umlets (sp?). I do have some work to do in this area, and have had someone send me over a db so I can look at it.

Here's the thread that htv was pointing you at: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=16767

Thanks :o , are you a mindreader?

spellingcourse: umlet= umlaut. In school we'd say: umläut, to *%&$^& the teacher.Smile

I remember having troubles with something like this. I don't remember if it was with mp3's or avi's.
I tried for you changed a song name and the id3-tag to something with an umlaut. It showed up ok and it played ok.Smile
Which ofcourse doesn't necessarily mean that all characters are allowed.
If you want some more tests, let me know.

Edit: I'll try to find out what the old problems were I had with characters and the mvp.

Edit 2: Sorry couldn't find what the problem exactly was, must have been ~18 months ago.

Sorry I didn't check this sooner. I have been trying to keep my wife happy by finishing our flower garden before it gets too late in the year to plant.

I am from an English speaking country (US) and all of my music is from the US. I ripped all of my songs using Windows Media Player 11 and saved them as .wma files. At this point I have gone back to using the default player until I can get ML2 to work. I have a feeling that it has something to do with how I configured ML2 with the paths and collections. This was the part that I found very confusing.

This is how I have my music organized. I have a main folder on my system that is labled My Music. Under this folder I have 4 folders (Popular Music, Religious Music, Xmas Music, and Children's Music) where the files are actually kept.

Am I supposed to have a path to each of these folders with a collection pointing to each of these paths or do I just need to point to the main folder? Using both of these methods I had some music show up, but not all of it. I also tried keeping all of my music at the main folder level and had a path to this folder and a collection for this path with the same results as before.

As for id3-tags I don't know what they are. How do I know if the files have id3-tags?

I'm at work now, but when I get back home I will try to zip up the log files and post them here.

Thanks for the help

If you wanted 4 collections, religious music, xmas music etc then you can set up a religious Collection and point the collection path that that regligious directory. Xmas music collection to xmas music directory.

Or if you're like me then you just add you my music directory to the default collection and it all shows up.

If all of your files are wma then they should be tagged.

But even if they are not tagged then all your files should show up in ML2 as "title.mp3" under the unknown artist.
