Can some of you MusicLibrary listeners provide a summary of the most serious problems they are having with ML3 especially if you are using ML2 still. I want to convert as many ML2 users to ML3 and I want to know what is holding you back.

Thanks,

Martin

I ended there with more to follow. That did not happen because psycik decided to stop the work, which I respect but regret. So I did not see a point to dig further. If anyone is taking this up again, I will be there to help of course.
I am quite satisfied with what I have now, even though I do not use the whole GBPVR thing as much as I used to do.
I had a few remaining wishes on the list. From the top of my head:
- I would like to have the option to see all the songs of one single artist, composer. (There is an inherent problem in the MP3 tags where you have one line to store artists, composers, etc. And there is no agreed syntax on how to store these names.)
- One other thing has to do with the random play list. There are a few types of albums that are not very well suited for this mechanism, because the tracks must be played in a fixed order. In other places I have noticed tracks lasting 5 seconds or less, which I rather did not hear in a random play. Again this is happening most frequently in classical music, so there will probably not be a high demand for this. I could imagine however that at indexing time you could set a minimum length for records to be included in random playlists. I could also imagine an optional index instruction file at the directory level in which you set parameters to instruct the indexer that the files should be excluded from random lists or that only all should be played in the intended order.

There were a few quirks with the UI if I remember correctly, but they were not show stoppers. Mostly discovered while re-skinning. If work it going to move foward, I'll revisit those issues when it is a more suitable time.

Fatman_do I found some major problems with the blue skin which I am struggling with but cleaning these up as I go and it is making the experience better. ML2 users shouldn't be too complacent because it is expected that sub will change SQLite versions one day.

My problems were not really from the skin xml's per se, more the result of incorrect display as items were selected and such. It seemed that there were some scaling issues when going back & forth between different screen types. It probably has been a year since I last looked at ML3, so my memory may not be what I think it is.

We use ML2 here (CS-WS skin version), but we don't listen to music as much as we used too.

Edit: I never addressed the ML3 issues because I understood it was a substantial "Work in progress" converting from ML2.

Now I am getting into the meat of ML3 I have a question for ML users. If there is a queue playing I can add to this queue and play and navigate it with much fewer problems and when I finish with the Stop or Ctrl-S a "Last Played.m3u" file is saved.

What is the expected behaviour if I add a new track and want to play it? Should a new queue start or should I add new tracks to the old list and play from the new track? Clearly when music is playing songs should be be added to the end, but [ersonally I'd like to empty the queue whenever the music is stopped, the code does a mix of both.

Depends if you queue a track (ctrl-y) or play a track (play)

But after stopping, it should start a new playlist, this was always the design.

Thanks psycik I didn't know the distinction between ctrl-y and play (because I had the config option to have them the same!) and I will make it work like the design.
