I still have sometimes no sound on some recordings.
As an example the last recording scheduled and started in the log does not have sound.
I can not see anything wrong in the log files.
After a reboot I always have to start the tuning assistent otherwise I have no sound at all.

Maybe someone can have a look at the attached log file.
I am willing to do tests and additional logging.
The log can be found here

It's always PVR150 owners that have this sort of problem, so my first thought is that they'll still having sound issues with their drivers.

I notice you're using frequencies rather than channel numbers. Does it make any difference if you use channel numbers? Do these channels have nicam stereo or some other stereo sound system?

I use frequencies because the cable companie uses non standard frequencies, the channels are a little off causing bad or no video at all if I use the channel number, this is very normal in Europe.
The sound is most probably nicam stereo.
The netherlands is a pal country, and no secam.
My idea is that the sound system selection used by microsoft is confused when you use english language windows version with dutch (31) as country setting.
That is why I have to run the tuning assistant (only very breafly, just a couple of seconds) to set the sound system setting in a correct state after a reoot.
But again, if there are any setting a can set to increase to logging I can reboot the system, do a recording, see if there is sound, run tunings assistant, record again, see if there is sound. Run a recording on multiple tuners (I can not run tuning assistant on the seconds tuner), and post the logs.

Ah, yes netherlands...I remember this case now that you mention it.

Unfortunately there is no more logging available than what you get with the current 'debug' log setting. For the most part though, GB-PVR doesnt set any settings related to sound so there isnt really much to log. Instead it just relies on the drivers to do all this stuff automatically behind the scenes - this tends to work well except for a few PVR150 owners.

A couple of things to try, does setting "ForceMono=1" in direct.ini help? or possibly set AudioOutput=3 in the appropriate quality section?

If neither of these help, I can look at adding some more stuff fo you test, but that'll need to wait until the next release though, since my build is no longer binary compatible with v0.99.12.

Hi, Erik. Welcome to the cantankerous PVR150 sound on reboot problem!

I couldn't find an elegant fix so rely on a satisfactory (to me!) work-around.

My Windows startup calls a batch file for each tuner that initiates a 1 second recording then deletes the file. This is enough to kick-start the PVR150 properly.

I found this to record for 1 minute
C:\PROGRA~1\WinTV\WinTV2K.EXE -c41 -nss -nc -ntod -startr -limit:1 -exitr -mute

How do I do this on both tuners?

I had the same problem yesterdaySad http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=26555 )

I went with Lindsay's solution, seems to work. I'm glad it only loses audio when the system reboots, it doesn't when it hibernates/wakes-up. I have the system set to auto-hibernate after 15 mins.
Thanks Lindsay for the work around.
@ Erik: I think GBrecord has some more options to specify the tuner it should record from and you can set it to record only one sec, so it's very quick.

This is the link Lindsay provided: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=15777&page=3
GBrecord can be downloaded here (don't know how long):

Edit: just read in another thread that sub put gbrecord back for download here: http://www.gbpvr.com/GBRecord92.zip

Here's my batch file which lives in the GBRecord directory.

GBRecord.exe -device:"Hauppauge PVR-150" -instance:2 -channel:1 -startr:test.mpg -seconds:1
del test.mpg

Note "-instance=2" This selects second tuner.

I now autorun GBRecord after a boot to record on both tuners about 4 seconds and that solves all sound problems.
Thanks sub for making GBrecord!

Yeah it works great, I let my system goto sleep after 15 mins. I noticed that once in a while the audio is gone after wake-up from hibernation too.
So I use GBPVRwake.exe + wake.cmd to have gbrecord record 1 sec after wake-up from hibernation aswell. And I have it restart recservice after that.Smile
