I'm looking for a second HD tuner card (ATSC), a Fusion5 Lite/Gold/Whatever or anything else that will work well with GB-PVR (I have a Fusion5 now). Before I shell out for a new one from a vendor, does anyone here have one they no longer use and want to sell for a reasonable price? I'm in the U.S., in Arizona, near Phoenix (105F here today). PM me if you have something of interest.

Thanks...

A word of warning though, the ATI HDTV Wonder doesnt seem to work that well with GB-PVR, specifically in the area of channel scanning. With this specific card you need find and enter all the channel details manually which is a pain in the butt.

(sorry lonegeek!)

zed let me know what you get and how it works. I want to get an HD tuner for my parents' (HTPC2) tuner they're in Phoenix too. I'll prolly just go with an hdhomerun though because the thing is running wirelessly so I could just use the NIC for a direct connection.

I have a Dvico Fusion5 Gold now that I got from another forum member. It works fine. I'm kind of leaning toward getting another Fusion5 card since I know they work pretty well. If I go for something new, I'd probably go with a 1600 card. We'll see...

I live in Gilbert and have an old Radio Shack outside antenna pointed at South Mountain. I get all the local Phoenix stations and even a couple of the Tucson stations.

You may have some issues with playback of HD recordings on an SD TV. The MVP won't play them directly and I don't know how they'd work fed to an SD TV via svideo or composite from a video card. You might try playing one back and see how it looks before you invest in an HD card. You can probably transcode them but that's kind of a PITA.

Another solution is to get an HD tuner box that will down-convert HD to 480i and feed it into an analog capture card like a 150. You can get the tuner boxes fairly cheap on Ebay. Samsung makes some and RCA used to make them. I think there's a DirectTV receiver that will work too and you don't even need to subscribe to DTV to get OTA, just have the box. This works pretty well. HD down-converted to 480i still blows the socks off any analog signal I've seen. I did this with a couple of RCA boxes until I got an HDTV that I feed directly now (I sold the boxes).

good to know zed, very good to know actually.

I currently transcode every recorded show but that would be an issue for live tv.

I just bought a TwinHan 32500 for $42 including shipping from NewEgg. I'm also downconverting and sending into my MAUI as an analog signal with a direct tv receiver. It rocks over any OTA analog recorded show and doesn't use 8 GB for a 1 hour show. Here's a link to a list of Direct TV units that will allow for HD OTA w/o a subscription.

There's tons of them on Ebay, and I found mine (HIRD E-86) on Craigslist for $60.

You musta gotten the last one. I couldn't find it on their site. They're pretty pricey elsewhere.

Spoke too soon...found the here for $40: http://3btech.net/twatdiandanp.html

Any issues getting it to work with GB-PVR?
