Hi,

I'm not sure if the client/server system allows for this or not, but I assumed it would.. so I'm asking here.. feel free to move to "Wishlist" if this is more of a request Smile

I'm trying to watch Live TV on a client (timeshifting).. and the server is being used right now to watch Live TV (also in timeshift mode). I assumed that the client would say "no tuners available" and then offer me to watch what the server is seeing... but it won't let me watch anything.. is this normal?

If your server is using the tuner to perform a recording, then you'll get told 'no tuners available' and be given the option to watch that recording. If the tuner was in use on the server by a user watching live tv, then you'll be told no tuner was available. It wont be possible to watch the live tv stream that the user is watching on the server (now or in the future).

Gotcha.. but it doesn't make sense for timeshift mode, since technically I would be watching a "recording" from a file.. couldn't the client just read the Live TV buffer filename from the database and then playback that file, just like it would if it were playing a recording? I guess I don't understand the difference when we're dealing strictly in timeshift mode.

Too much hassle. A lot of fiddly stuff goes on behind the scenes in timeshift mode. I cant be bothered implementing support for a second instance viewing this same stream. Also, most people use live preview, which would make this useless for most setups.

Can't you make the Live TV buffer dir also make part of your Video library dir and access the timeshift file that way ?
Not something I would do, but it might work
