Ive just seen this post on the Sage forum about the PS3 with new 1.8 firmware playing HD recordings.

I was trialing Sage before I went to GBPVR and IIRC the recordings are in the same mpeg format. ( i think i even played sage recordings through gbpvr during the switchover!) .
I havn't tried this as I don't have a PS3 yet, but its getting more tempting by the day...
