Welp, that sucks, as I just bought a brand new OEM from a buddy of mine, and it looks like I wont be able to use it in my mediacentre of choice. I've spent a week with MediaPortal and a week with gbpvr and decided I liked gbpvr much better. Easier to configure IMO.

The plugin used to allow unsupported cards is no longer supported I see? Are there any other options available to getting this card to work?

BTW, first post, and looks like a great forum.

Also, what would be some recommendations for tuner cards? I would like to be able to record and watch two different channels with one card, but is the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR 500 really the only one available? I want a single card because I want to keep my HTPC an extremely small formfactor.

First, welcome to the forums Smile You should give the plugin a go. People indicate that it is still working. It should rather be labeled "not actively developed" than "unsupported"...
I'm not always right
GB-PVR 1.2.9
Accent HT-400 Case, AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 1024MB, 1TB+300GB+180GB, WinXP Pro-SP2, NVidia 7600GT

Sorry, there is no native support for cards like this that lack the required MPEG2 encoder. Honestly, you'd be better off returning the card and spending the few extra dollars to get a card with an onboard MPEG2 encoder, like the Hauppauge PVR150/500 or ATI 550 pro.

There a couple of other less common dual tuner cards like the nvidia dual tv and some vixis view card, but I'd recommend going with the 500. Its widely used, and much better supported than these other cards.
