Newegg has an HD-compatible media client for less than I paid for my MediaMVP.

Reviews indicate a glitchy early-adopter product, but for the price and assumption that it can actually play AC3 audio over the stereo outputs (unlike the MediaMVP) it might be just the ticket to watch ATSC recordings remotely.

I assume I'll have to access my HTPC via shared directory, since I know it won't interface directly with GB-PVR.

Anybody try this box?

Hi, This box was orgininally designed by Liteon and the whole product line was sold to buffalo.

I've got the Liteon Version and it's a top bit of kit, The Buffalo unit has a couple of features I'd like aka USB port.

I've also using the MEDIA Server installed alongside GBPVR for accessing the recorded files. So I have the source of the media files set to the GBPVR video folders.

The only thing I miss is the option to delete recording from the GBPVR Library but that minor detail... (and easy to fix if i really wanted)

If you use the Media Server which is supplied, this talks to the player, and is built on a JAVA solution. Bascially it uses HTTP over port 8000 for access. so you could write your own but the version which is shipped is mostly ok.

Therefore you don't need a shared folder etc. which is nice.

The Media Centre software is purchased in from Neuston.

http://www.neuston.com

Neuston version is a little better. however due to change in the default port (which you can't change) therefore the latest version you can use 2.8

Hope this help...

tipstir Wrote:But doesn't this device have FF/RR problems.

Basically FF and RR work fine 99% of the time, sometimes, it not keen to jump out and return to 'play' however on the Liteon Forum the users over there think is a remote problem rather than the unit. Personally I've only seen it about 10 times in the 3 years I've owned this unit...

tipstir Wrote:Dlink MediaLounge with HDMI would be a better bet cost is $199 depending on where you go..

Possible..... I guess it depends on what TV you are hooking up to. and if you are going replace with TV etc...
