Can anybody (sub?) confirm that when GBPVR starts it does an epg update.

The logs would seem to indicate this. So in the following scenario when I have a DVB EPG update scheduled for 04:00 every morning, followed by a computer programmed reboot every day at 04:30, I am going to get two EPG updates and therefore the scheduled one at 04:00 is not necessary

If you restart the recording service in the hour that the EPG update is supposed to occur, then it'll do the EPG update again. This happens because it doesnt store anywhere the fact an EPG updated occurred. It just stores the time of the last EPG update in memory. When the recording service is restarted it loses this, notices its the epg update hour and proceeds to do it again.

If you rebooted outside of that hour, then this wouldnt occur.

If you mean this, I'm happy to have another go at explaining?

Basically if your restart the recording service (like a reboot) during the hour specified for the EPG update in the config app, then the update will occur again.
