Hi this is probably a stupid question, and as you`ll see from the question I know nothing about LINUX. :o

Right here it goes.

The MediaMVP runs on LINUX OS and the XBOX runs on LINUX OS, so could I ftp MVPMC dongle to a softmodded XBOX and run emulation mode from the XBOX?

Or is there more to this.

Thanks

I am interested in this also! good idea. But how would you control gbpvr from an xbox as a mvp? How would you use a remote?
3x MVPs (not used anymore)
XBMC
Hauppauge 150 via SVideo
Comcast Digital Cable
Motorola HD Cable box channel changed via Firewire
Vista Home Premium with RDP hack
AMD Athalon 64 5000+
340gig sata, plus 80SATA+3x160IDE Drives in XP machine for storage.

First of all this is not a stupid question, I like trying to help people who want to understand. Stupid is thinking this can be done with a hex editor.

Linux is just an OS that can run on almost anything from a cell phone to a mainframe computer. The applications that run under linux need to be compiled for the specific "computer" and the capabilities of that computer. I think you are confusing multi-platform Java with an OS that can run on different architectures.

I gave a little bit more info here.

I'm pretty sure I could port emulation mode to the xbox, but it is not on my list of targets because I don't have one and it doesn't offer enough innovation to buy one. Of course, if someone sent me a hard-modded xbox I would add it to my list of targets. Note I would only do it on xbox linux and not xbmc.

For me the short term key is getting enough people testing emulation mode so that it will be stable enough to make the porting effort worthwhile. That is why I am here on this forum, improve emulation and port to other platforms so your GBPVR experience is better.

Just dropping in from holiday, but this sounds interesting.

So much so that if I knew what xbox is required, I'd try and pick up a used one and it'd become my next project to move away from the the MVP to a box that can do DivX and other formats the MVP cannot do.

Currently I use my xbox as a front-end to just watch the videos. The recording folder is shared via smb share. Since I use the renamer tool it looks really nice because I see all my folders and the episode titles. I will be starting a new thread asking for support if there are any Python developers interested.

I've been looking at adding support to xbmc to act as a simple front end to gbpvr for a while. I got the win32 version of xbmc compiling on my dev machine.
Since support for mythtv has been added into xbmc I'm hoping that I will be able to add it in for gbpvr as well.
Don't hold your breaths or anything as this is a side project and my real job takes up most of my programming time.

I went with the PCH in the end, plays most of what I need and it has a nice GUI, so all I need is Resume and Comskip and I'm hippo happy!
