GB-PVR V0.17 is now available for download at http://www.gbpvr.com/Setup017i.exe

Highlights would be Zap2it support for the US/Canada users, XCard DVD Player and first cut at web scheduling (including source for those that want to extend it). XMLTV is too difficult to get going for most users, so I'm sure the easy to use Zap2it support will be appreciated.

From the change.log file:

2004-5-9 v0.17
- Added Zap2it data direct EPG source for USA/Canada users. No XMLTV required. This should be easier to setup for new users. It will attempt to retain 10 days of listings. The initial load can take long time depending on the number channels. Subsequent loads are quicker, as it'll only need the last day.
- Rearranged config app layout to squeeze in a few more settings.
- Now correctly handling with newline character at the end of program names in swedish XMLTV listings
- Now supporting extended characters in filenames when playing back via the MVP
- NetRadio and MP3s now also working with XCard. NetRadio can be slow to start, I'm not sure why yet - still investigating.
- Now allowing horizontal resizing of the OSD on the XCard. The is done in software, so only resize horizontally if you have to because it make the xcard GUI a little slower (you probably wouldn't notice).
- Added tray icon to let you know what the recording service is up to (in 64 characters or less).
- Added support for MCE remote control. This is enabled in the config app.
- First cut at web scheduling is included. If the web server is enabled, you can get to it by accessing http://localhost:7647/gbpvr/index.aspx . Big thumbs up to LivesNbox for the great job be did on this.
- Now informing you of conflicts when you schedule a recording, and allowing to resolve the conflict with a list of options.
- You can now select channel number using number keys when entering a manual recording.
- Logging filenames changed so that history of last three runs is kept.
- Change to the skin xml files. Added SkinHelper class as first steps of producing more uniform/consistent skin.xml settings. Also added the ability to use colour gradients in many parts of the skins. Colors can be by name (Green/Black/etc) or by #RRGGBB constant. Lots more options now available for new skins.
- Added XCard DVD player. During DVD playback "Blue/Ctrl-B" key will return to the DVD's main menu. "Home/Menu/Stop" key will stop DVD playback and return to the main GB-PVR menu. During DVD playback "Green/Ctrl-G" key toggles closed caption information. Pause/Play/Skip/FF/RW are as you'd expect.
- Several other small fixes

...and now for the bad news. It looks like my Hauppauge PVR350 may have died yesterday. Oh crap - this potentially a large problem for me.

I've tried it two different machines with the same behaviour from both. The card seems to think its installed ok, but I cant get any video from it. Everything is just black. It does this with GB-PVR, WinTV2000, WinTVCap etc. I've tried various video sources, and all of the inputs (SVideo/Composite/Tuner) - nothing worked.

bugger...

Well, I was just going to say the changelog looks GREAT, then I read your bad news (what a downer!Wink. Hopefully you get it resolved, is the card still under warranty, perhaps? Or maybe it's the output cable that's gone flaky.

MCE remote working = sweet (as I have one so hopefully it'll work) zap2it instead of xmltv could also be good, xmltv has never been 100% reliable for me. Will check this version out tonight and see how it goes [Image: smile.gif]

There is no video coming from the device. It just creates black mpg video files.

Unfortunately I got the card a little over a year ago. I also got it from the Netherlands when I was on holiday, so even if it had been under warranty getting it back to the store would have been a big hassle.

Oh so it's the input not the output that's broken?

If it's only slightly over a year old perhaps photoshop could fix that problem Wink Besides you'd be returning it directly to Hauppauge, not the store you got it from (I would think)

Just messing around with this now. I actually don't like the zap2it, it doesn't even put the channel numbers, just the names (vs. xmltv). Plus the other big no no on the zap2it, CLEAR TEXT PASSWORDS. Bad, very bad [Image: smile.gif] However, if it's automated it would make life much easier than xmltv.

The MCE remote, well, it kinda works now. Pausing live tv works, the FF/REW make it go haywire (on live tv, my recorded program list got dumped with the upgrade!Wink, channel up/down does nothing, the numeric keys do nothing (I may have something misconfigured there?) guide/live tv/more info all do nothing. Back button brings me back to the main menu from watching live tv. My music brings up the mini guide (while watching live tv). my videos brings up the color bars when watching live tv (oops!Wink only way out of that is to close GB. Rec button also does nothing.

Hate to sound like bxtch squad, but here's a couple more minor things. Going from zap2it back to xmltv makes a real mess of the epg. I even tried clearing it and it still had partial data from each (it was a mess, I uninstalled and re-installed GB to solve it). Also I do like the recording conflict solution (it's great!Wink but only works for individual recordings, not record season. Also the new color for shows that are getting recorded is MUCH better. Nice shade of red vs. the old neon pink, thank you for changing that.

Wish I could help you out more, I guess all I can do is complain to the management [Image: tounge.gif]

If you intend to switch between zap2it and xmltv, you should remove you capture source and re-add it. Otherwise you'll end up with double the number of channels in the guide. The names are different, so there is no way GB-PVR can know they're the same channels. Pick one and stick with it.

The zap2it username and password are left in clear text in the config app because I dont think this very important information. If really bothers you that much, I can change it to show ***** instead of the password.  It kind of seemed pointless to me.

With the MCE remote, you'll need to use the up and down navigation keys to change channels. This was done this way for compatibility with the existing keyboard controls. If I was to also add support for the MCE CH+/- buttons, they would just be additional up and down buttons.

Yes, the new popup conflict screen is a nice addition. I have a different scheme in mind for managing conflict with reoccuring and season recordings, but I didn't want to hold up release any longer. This will require a new screen, as these conflicts are not known at the time the recording is scheduled. This'll probably be in the next release.

The colored buttons on the MCE remote are treated the same way as the colored remote buttons on the Hauppauge remote. They treated as Red Green Blue and Yellow (which have uses in GB-PVR), not as My Music, My Videos etc (which have no uses in GB-PVR). You cant have it both ways.

Hauppauge have no presence in New Zealand, and the devices arn't even sold here, so photoshop wont help me.

As of now I have no (working) Hauppauge capture devices.
