I've upgraded from 0.99.12 to 1.0.8, still using gbpvr.exe as the GUI, and now whenever I go into Recordings, it takes several seconds of 100% CPU usage and continuous disk activity before switching into the Recordings screen. Deleting a recording takes a similar length of time, and sometimes gbpvr doesn't recover when the disk activity's stopped, and you have to kill the process.

I'm unable to reproduce the same behaviour with the PVRX2 interface.

(FYI, the only reason I've stuck with the old interface is that, while PVRX2 is pretty, the "mobile" GUI elements, e.g. the items on the main menu, make it a pain to use remotely via a mobile phone... Tongue)

reproduce the issue, zip and attach the logs (set the logging level to debug if it isnt already), that is the best way to track an issue like this.

from a mobile phone?

I had a similar problem.
Do you have <AutoRemoveMissingRecordings> in config.xml set to false?
I had <AutoRemoveMissingRecordings> set to false and changing it to true fixed it.

I'd agree with this one.

You can also get slow response if your recordings are not network drives. (or if you have 2000 recordings like another user)

I also have this option set to false and experience this problem. Why would this cause it to be slow? I would think not having to check if they are there or not would make it faster. Further, none of the files actually are missing, so it isn't as if it is wasting time trying to read a file that isn't there.

Yes. The PVR runs a VNC server, so I can just connect in and poke it to record stuff from my mobile. Smile

Setting AutoRemoveMissingRecordings to true in config.xml seems to fix things up for me. Is it set ot true by default? I don't remember changing it...

What phone are you using for this, and is via wifi or GPRS / WAP?

I use my mobile to get to the EWA using Opera Mini, but would be ineterested in using VNC.

Thanks

My handset is an HTC TyTn/Hermes branded as Orange SPV M3100. If I'm at home, I use the phone's wi-fi to connect directly, otherwise it's still very usable over 3G or GPRS. There's a rule in my router @ home to route traffic on a particular port through to the VNC server and I use a no-ip DNS name to cope with my ISP changing my public IP address every so often. It's also possible to do this from any Java Mobile capable phone, including those lacking a touch-screen.

If anyone's interested then I'm happy to post URLs for the versions of software I use for this. I work for RealVNC Ltd, so I can't claim to provide impartial advice as to what's best to use, though!

Was the AutoRemoveMissingRecordings value set to something different in previous versions, or is there a GUI option I've stupidly flipped to cause it to change? (Just thinking I'd like to avoid these sorts of problems in future!)

Thanks. Smile
