Hi all,

Nearly done, I think. Just 2 or three problems and then maybe the wife will stop ear bashing.

1. this is the most important, i have 2 cards 1 nova s-plus and 1 PVR150MCE, both work, both tuned, (all good). But when i record from freeview i'm having real trouble then watching another channel on the PVR150. i.e +CH or -CH won't work if i have to go through 2/3 channels before i hit a chennel on the other card. (i'm recording and so won't let me switch)
This HTPC is not connect to the internet so i have no EPG for the PVR150 channels, if i go to the guide the channels are blank and scrolling up and down doesn't indicate which channel i'm on, so this becomes a bit hit and miss. just entering the channel No. doesn't work either (although it does if i'm NOT recording). Is there any other way of changing channel.

2. I have the huappauge 45 button remote and have set my machine to hibernate when the power button is pressed on the front of the box. On resume from hibernation the remote will not work for about 20-30sec then kick into life.
Why the delay and is there a way to remove it.

3. Has anyone got an easy way to burn dvds of recordings, i've read about show burner but it doesn't support PAL.

4. Lastly, honestWink . If GBPVR crashes or hangs or the remote won't respond what methods sre available to recover if i don't want to have a keyboard and mouse connected. I'm trying to make this into a stand alone PVR/HTPC for the family.

P.S. using 0.99.12 not the new one.

Thanks in advance for any help

Reproduce the problem then zip and attach the logs.

It'll be something relating to the Hauppauge IR software - ie, not the sort of thing that can be fixed by tweaking a GB-PVR setting.

I havnt tried it, but there was a new PAL capable DVD burning plugin here: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=28355

its easiest if you zip and attach all the logs from the logs directory, then I dont need to further ask questions about how you're setup to determine the appropriate logs.

After your post i checked out the dvd burning thread and it looks promising so may update to 1.08 (99.12 doesn't seem to work) any way which may sort out this behavior as well. So don't stress yourselve you've got lots of other important stuff to do as well I'm sure.

I'm working around this problem by making sure i'm already in one of the PVR150 channels before recording from one of the Novs S-Plus channels.

Thanks again

To answer your last question:

Not sure what type of remote control you're using, but if you're using the WinTV irremote.exe, you can configure a custom button that's executed where there are no 'known' windows showing. Modify the file "c:\windows\irremote.ini"...

You'll need to find the [DEFAULT] section and add something like this:
Code:
[Default]
BLUE={run(c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\gbpvr.exe)}

That way, when GBPVR isn't running, just push the blue button and after a few secs GBPVR will pop up.

@j3flight

Thanks for that. That would be useful.

But the main issue is if GBPVR crashes/hangs or the remote is unresponsive. I realise that theres a hundred and one reasons for this to happen and that GBPVR is quite well behaved. But hey it happens.

I've tried "startGBPVR" a little exe thats suppose make sure it's always running, and it did alway start GBPVR but if GBPVR hung it wouldn't close the program. I had to do alt F4 then it would auto restart GBPVR.

So... back to your suggestion, would it be possible to put together a .bat file that will call GBPVR to restart, or close then open. Then from the remote i could make sure its always running?? Sorry i haven't read enough to know if GBPVR has any CLI options.

Did you reproduce the problem immediately prior to posting the logs? The logs dont really seem to tally up with the vague discription of your problem #1 from the first post.

Please reproduce the problem again, then zip and attach logs again. This time, also include a commentary when you post the logs describing what you tried to do, and what actually happened (or didnt). This will make it much easier for me to trace what is happening in the logs.

Thanks.
