Hi,

I'm totally new to GB-PVR having been recommended it by a colleague who suggested it would be an end to my DVR-MS transcoding woes.

My Setup
2x Twinhan DVB-T 3054 PCI cards
Win XP MCE 2005
UK Freeview, Southern England, Crystal Palace
GB-PVR 1.08

MCE uses both cards fine, and finds all of the Freeview channels.

I installed the GB-PVR app as defined on the site, with no plugins and when running the config app set the option to only display DVB cards that the software finds - it correctly identified the Twinhan 3054s. When I try to scan it goes through, displaying 1 of 7 etc messages, and showing values of strength around 65% and quality >95% - although the little preview screen stays black throughout. At the end, it reports no channels found. I've re-run this quite a few times now to no avail. Had a good look in the forum, and the only things I have been able to find dates back a year or so along the lines of adding <BDAScanType>2</BDAScanType> to config.xml but this made no difference. I noticed that this node was not actually in my XML in the first place - so has this been deprecated?

Does anyone have any ideas? I am sure I have probably just done something daft but can't for the life of me figure it out!

If you are running this on an MCE OS, you may have to disable the Media Center Receiver Service.

Thanks for the tip - alas, I've disabled all the MCE services and double checked no MCE processes are running when the config app does the scan but still no luck. Could be my imagination, but I think the scan is taking a little longer now and reporting more signals (as far as quality and strength are concerned) but it still ends up with no channels found.

it should show
them below the little screen and they should also show up in the box(well with mine it shows the first one it finds )
then you go to the left box and map them your guide

have you put in the correct area

No - I don't see any of what you mention. Definitely the correct area - also my MCE setup works fine on the Crystal Palace transmitter - besides I also tried it set to "All areas" and that didn't work either!

the signal sounds a bit weak to me

maybe mce is still interfearing

i know it worked with mce for you
but have you tried just using one card to begin with
just to see if you can get a better signal

sub - I know you're busy at the moment so I had a look at the logs (M-Ray is in my DVB-T area so thought I could help).

This from the config.exe-native.log...
Quote:2007-08-04 10:43:52.453 VERBOSE Adding MPEG-2 Sections and Tables filter
2007-08-04 10:43:52.546 VERBOSE ConnectPins failed: hr = 80040217
I know that's a generic connection failure error code but you'll probably have an idea as to what could cause it in this instance.

Cheers,
Brian

I do know why that happens, and it can safely be ignored. Most people get this specific error in their logs.

M-Ray, there is no obvious cause in your logs, but you could try adding the following registry setting, create c:\temp directory, then scan again.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Devnz\LogPsiProcessing=2 (DWORD)

After the scan completes, zip and attach c:\temp\psi.log, then delete that registry setting.

This log file will let me see what data is coming from the capture device.
