I ordered a wired MVP from ebuyer.com for £41 - it arrived Friday. I had ordered a couple of other bits & pieces to take the total over £50 - free postage that way (a Scotsman or what)

So Saturday, I change the number of MVP servers to 1, open the box, put batteries in the remote, hook up the MVP and plug it in. It finds my gbpvr server, I give it permission to continue (it's nice to have control over your machines), it continues.

20 minutes later I had tested out live TV, recorded TV, TV Guide, MP3 playback, holiday pictures, etc, etc. I was even watching JPG slide shows and playing music at the same time Cool and isn't this thread just the most boring you have ever read? Sad

The only real bit of fun was when I couldn't open network folders, but then I remembered about the UNC naming thing and that fixed it (this is when all those late nights spent reading through random threads pays dividends).

On the serious side, I'm really impressed with the picture quality. I was testing on a 22" 'flat' CRT and I couldn't see any difference between MVP and STB.

Next step is to move the MVP to the TV in the Network Control Facility (OK the kitchen) for some serious testing.

When I'm dealing with machines, my motto is normally
"I'm an engineer - if it don't fit, I'll hit it with a hammer until it does"

But for this MVP I'm going to change it to
"I'm an engineer - if it ain't broke, I'll hit it with a hammer until it is"Big Grin

So if I understand correctly, the problem is that there is no problem and now you're going to mess up the kitchen ? Big Grin

You shouldn't have any real issues with the WMVP version and is gbpvr in your kitchen poll if it ever made to to big time you're could have join my club. Smile
Note that it's a wired MPV...

There has been a dramatic reduction in polls since you went on vacation...Sad

Just for my curiosity, moving the MVP to the kitchen is going to be used when
cooking or during dinner time ? Having a tv set in the kitchen is pretty uncommon over here.

We've got a fairly large kitchen. I like to listen to music when I'm cooking so I've got speakers in there wired up the the main Hi-fi in the living room. We also use it as kind of a sitting room for when someone might drop in for coffee - I use it as an office - it's also the remote telemetry monitoring centre for the 'Facility' upstairs in the attic (wireless laptops are just great).

I guess we always had a small TV in the kitchen siting on the worktop - we replaced all the kitchen stuff a couple of years ago and when I designed the new one (wife wanted everything integrated and built-in) I managed to find a bit of cupboard space for 'Home Entertainment Kit'... Eventually I expect the HTPC Server to be in there fronted by a 19" flat monitor - maybe.

I only have it in the Dinning Room and Kitchen open bench area (as seen below) Setup as changed a bit since image was taken to make the wife happy. The image shows you wireless bridge connected to wired mediamvp so that will make it wireless mediamvp.. Works 100% wireless.. I can cook with gbpvr and watch and listen to media with gbpvr in the kitchen or eating dinner/lunch/breakfast at the dinning room table Smile
I guess I'm there now too... careful with electricity in the bathroom though...
