I ordered a wired MVP from ebuyer.com for £41 - it arrived Friday. I had ordered a couple of other bits & pieces to take the total over £50 - free postage that way (a Scotsman or what)
So Saturday, I change the number of MVP servers to 1, open the box, put batteries in the remote, hook up the MVP and plug it in. It finds my gbpvr server, I give it permission to continue (it's nice to have control over your machines), it continues.
20 minutes later I had tested out live TV, recorded TV, TV Guide, MP3 playback, holiday pictures, etc, etc. I was even watching JPG slide shows and playing music at the same time and isn't this thread just the most boring you have ever read?
The only real bit of fun was when I couldn't open network folders, but then I remembered about the UNC naming thing and that fixed it (this is when all those late nights spent reading through random threads pays dividends).
On the serious side, I'm really impressed with the picture quality. I was testing on a 22" 'flat' CRT and I couldn't see any difference between MVP and STB.
Next step is to move the MVP to the TV in the Network Control Facility (OK the kitchen) for some serious testing.
When I'm dealing with machines, my motto is normally
"I'm an engineer - if it don't fit, I'll hit it with a hammer until it does"
But for this MVP I'm going to change it to
"I'm an engineer - if it ain't broke, I'll hit it with a hammer until it is"
